1. Disgusting Food Museum located in Sweden
Disgusting Food Museum in Sweden has a display of “bizarre looking and smelling” food items. It features 80 foods from around the world, including frog smoothies from Peru, fruit bat soup, Iceland’s shark meat and more. Visitors can also taste and smell some of the food items which are on display at the museum.
2. US-India bilateral trade could reach USD 238 billion by 2025
US India Strategic and Partnership Forum decided the bilateral trade between the two countries could reach 238 billion Dollars by 2025. From the current 143 billion Dollars given the present dynamics of the commercial engagement. The growth will occur if trade grows by 7.5 per cent each year been the trend for the last seven years.
3. West bengal Governor releases Bengali version of Great Minds of India
West Bengal Governor Kesri Nath Tripthi released the Bengali version of the famous book “Great Minds of India” . It is released at Shillong, Meghalaya, on July 7, 2019. The special function organized for the book release was attended by a galaxy of scholars, academicians and representative of various colleges, universities, media houses, and social organizations.
4. World Tour Platinum Australian Open: Indian Duo win bronze
The Indian pair of G. Sathiyan and Anthony Amalraj won bronze in Men’s Doubles at World Tour Platinum Australian Open Table Tennis 2019 held in Geelong near Melbourne in Australia. The duo went down with 12-14, 9-11, 8-11 to top seed Korean pair of Jeoung Youngsik and Lee Sangsu.
5. Nagarkirtan: wins Best Feature Film award at SAARC film festival
Director Kaushik Ganguly’s Bengali outing Nagarkirtan, has won big at prestigious 2019’s SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) film festival, bagging 4 awards in total, including Best Feature Film. Nagarkirtan, a love story of a transwoman and flautist, stars Riddhi Sen and Ritwik Chakraborty.
6. Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems bags $100 million missile kit order
Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems Ltd (KRAS) has secured $100-million order from Israel’s Rafeal for manufacturing 1,000 Barak-8 Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MR-SAM) Missile kits for Indian Army and the Indian Air Force (IAF).
7. Computer password inventor Fernando Corbató passes away at 93
US-born Fernando José “Corby” Corbató, credited with inventing the computer password, passed away in Massachusetts at the age of 93. Corbató led the development of the Compatible Time-Sharing System (CTSS), regarded as one of the world’s first operating systems. It allowed multiple people to use a computer at the same time.
8. Cabal-Farah 1st Colombians to win Grand Slam men’s doubles title
Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah became the first Colombians to win a Grand Slam men’s doubles title on Saturday. They beat France’s Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6), 6-7 (5), 6-3 in a Wimbledon final that clocked just under 5 hours. A part of the match was played under the closed Centre Court roof.
9. Agri-Business Incubation Centre started in Chhattisgarh
An Agri Business Incubation Centre has started in Chhattisgarh. The centre has been set up by the Union Agriculture Ministry in Indira Gandhi Agriculture University of Raipur. AIR Raipur correspondent reports that Agri Business Incubation Centre is set up under the National Agriculture Development Scheme- RAFTAAR.
10. Meghalaya becomes 1st state to ensure water conservation
Meghalaya became the first state in India to ensure the conservation of water and have own water policy following a nod given by the State Cabinet yesterday. The draft policy was approved by the State Cabinet in a meeting chaired by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
The objective of the policy is to recognize water resources as a common pool resource, to provide safe and hygienic water for drinking, domestic and sanitation and livelihood development to all residents of the state.
11.Bhubaneswar most affordable city for homebuyers: RBI survey
Bhubaneswar remains the most affordable city for homebuyers, while Mumbai remains the least affordable one in India. This was revealed in a survey report published by the Reserve Bank of India.
RBI has been conducting a quarterly residential asset price monitoring survey (RAPMS) since July 2010 on housing loans disbursed by select banks or housing finance companies (HFCs) across 13 cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bhopal and Bhubaneswar.
12. Retail inflation rises 3.18% in June due to costlier food products
India’s retail inflation hit a eight-month high in June on higher food prices, but stayed below the central bank’s target, potentially giving it room for a further interest rate easing to boost slowing growth.
Annual retail inflation in June was 3.18%, up from 3.05% the previous month, but below analyst forecasts, government data showed on Friday. A Reuters poll had predicted retail inflation at 3.20% for June.
13. Weightlifter Ajay Singh Wins Gold and Creates New Commonwealth Record
Indian weightlifter Ajay Singh Friday created a new Commonwealth record in the clean and jerk category en route to a gold medal at the Commonwealth Championships. The 22-year-old, who is competing in the 81kg category, also smashed the national record in the clean and jerk event by lifting more than double his body weight (190kg) to score vital points at the Olympic qualifying event.
