1. Worlds First Reusable PPE Kits by Indian Manufacturing Company
Indian Manufacturing Company- Loyal Textile Mills launched the first of its kind in the world-wide reusable PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) kits on 9th July 2020. Along with reusable PPE kits, Loyal Textile Mills also unveiled reusable garments and face masks with zero virus penetration.
The reusable masks, clothing and PPE kits were introduced by Loyal Textile Mills in partnership with the textile manufacturing company headquartered in Reliance Industries Limited and Switzerland- HeiQ Materials AG.
2. India has become the Second Largest Source of FDI for the United Kingdom
The statistics for the number of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects in the Financial Year 2019-20 in the United Kingdom was released on 10th July 2020 by the United Kingdom Government’s Department for International Trade (DIT). As per the Figures provided by DIT, the second-largest source of FDI in the United Kingdom is now from India.
3. India’s First State-Level ‘E-Lok Adalat’ conducted by Chhattisgarh High Court
Despite the cancellation of the 3rd National Lok Adalat of the year 2020 scheduled to be held on 11th July 2020, the first State Level ‘E-Lok Adalat’ of India was conducted successfully on 11th July 2020. The Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court P.R. Ramachandra Menon inaugurated the first State Level E-Lok Adalat of India from the Conference Hall of the Chhattisgarh State’s High Court in Bilaspur district.
4. Fourth Cycle of All India Tiger Estimation 2018 enters Guinness Book of World Records
For being the World’s Largest Camera Trapping Wildlife Survey, the Fourth Cycle of the All India Tiger Estimation 2018 has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records. Every four year since 2006, All India Tiger Estimation has been conducted in India.
The 2018 Estimation was the fourth cycle in overall. Earlier from the first, second, and third cycles were conducted in the years 2006, 2010 and 2014 respectively.
5. Mukesh Ambani becomes world’s seventh richest, overtakes investor tycoon Warren Buffett
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has become the world’s 7th richest person after overtaking legendary investor tycoon Warren Buffett in terms of net worth.
The Indian billionaire’s net worth currently stands at $69.9 billion, while Warren Buffer’s net worth stands at $69.1 billion. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is ranked at the top of the world’s richest individuals list with a net worth of $189.2 billion.
6. Indian Railways will be the largest Railway in world to have 100 per cent electrification by 2030: Piyush Goyal
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has said that Indian Railways will be the largest Railway in the world to have 100 per cent electrification replacing diesel. He expressed hope that it will be the world’s first Green Railways running on 100 per cent clean energy by 2030.
Addressing the India Global Week-2020, he said, the government has opened up for bidding for additional 151 trains inviting private participation so the passengers can enjoy world-class facilities and high speed journeys.
7. ISRO prepares to launch Brazil’s Amazonia-1 satellite aboard PSLV in August this year
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up to lift off Brazil’s Amazonia-1 satellite next month onboard the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). As per a report in the Financial Express, Amazonia-1 will be the first satellite for Earth Observation that is designed, assembled and tested in Brazil.
8. Russian COVID Vaccine: Russia becomes first nation to complete clinical trials of Coronavirus vaccine
Russia has become the first nation to successfully complete the human trials of COVID vaccine. Russia’s COVID vaccine has proven to be effective, as per the results of the trials.
Chief Researcher Elena Smolyarchuk informed on July 12, 2020 that the human trials of Russia’s COVID vaccine have been completed and the volunteers will be discharged soon. Smolyarchuk is the head of Center for Clinical Research on Medications at Russia’s Sechenov University.
9. China’s Kuaizhou-11 rocket fails hours after Long March booster soars to space
China confirmed its Kuaizhou-11 rocket failed after launching (July 10) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China. The cause for failure is currently being evaluated.
This failure comes just one day after the country launched another rocket type successfully from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest Sichuan China.
10. Singapore PM Lee returns to power with ‘clear mandate’
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has secured a “clear mandate” with his ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) winning 83 of the 93 contested parliamentary seats in the general election held amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Opposition gaining ground by winning a record 10 seats.
The ruling party, in power since independence in 1965, secured 61.24 per cent of the total votes cast in the election, down from 69.9 per cent in 2015. About 2.6 million Singaporeans voted.
11. MP govt to run ‘Roko -Toko’ campaign for those who do not wear masks
In Madhya Pradesh, the government will now run a Roko -Toko means stop and campaign for those who do not wear masks. As the Use of masks is mandatory in all public places in the state. Now selected voluntary organizations will provide masks to the people who do not wear masks in public places and will charge an amount of Rs 20 per mask from the concerned.
12. Tamil Nadu CM EPS honoured with Paul Harris Fellow recognition
The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International having its headquarters at Chicago, has honoured Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami with Paul Harris Fellow recognition, said Information Minister Kadambur Raju.
An official release stated that the Paul Harris Fellow recognition is accorded to honour people who render efficient services in providing drinking water, sanitation, prevention of diseases, environment, world peace etc., to its people.
13. NTPC Limited wins prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2019
National Thermal Power Corporation, NTPC Limited, a Central PSU under Ministry of Power has won the prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2019, under Outstanding Accomplishment in Corporate Excellence Category.
The company has also received Commendation for Significant Achievement in the category of CSR. Power Ministry said, NTPC always strives for sustainable development of its communities around the power stations.
14. Jack Charlton, England’s 1966 World Cup Winner, Dies At 85
Jack Charlton, a member of the England 1966 World Cup winning side and who went on to become a cult hero in Ireland, has died aged 85, his family announced.
Charlton — elder brother of his fellow World Cup winning team-mate Bobby — was an integral part of the great Don Revie managed Leeds United side that won the 1969 League title and the 1972 FA Cup.
15. Veteran Gujarati journalist, columnist, writer Nagindas Sanghvi passes away at 100
Veteran Gujarati journalist, columnist, writer and political analyst Nagindas Sanghvi passed away in Surat. He was 100 and suffering from acute asthma. Mr. Sangvi was conferred Padma Shri award in the year 2019. He was in teaching at Bhavan’s College Andheri from 1951 to 1980. He had written many books on Mahatma Gandhi, Gujarat and other subjects.
