1. Dr. B.N. Gangadhar named as Chairperson of the National Medical Commission
The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has announced the appointment of several well-known people to the National Medical Commission (NMC). This is a big step toward improving medical education and healthcare governance in India. The appointments are meant to bring new ideas and skills to the country’s top medical school regulator.
As chairperson of the NMC, Dr. BN Gangadhar takes the lead.
As of now, Dr. BN Gangadhar, who was acting as the chairperson, is fully in charge of the National Medical Commission. This appointment is a very important step toward making sure that this important group has stable leadership.
- The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) used to be run by Dr. Gangadhar.
- He was head of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board in the past.

2. SBI General Insurance Names Naveen Chandra Jha as New MD & CEO
Shree Naveen Chandra Jha has been named the new Managing Director and CEO of SBI General Insurance Company Ltd. He takes over for Shri Kishore Kumar Poludasu, who was chosen by the parent company, State Bank of India.

Shri Naveen Chandra Jha has worked for the State Bank of India for almost 30 years, most recently as Deputy Managing Director and Chief General Manager of Amaravati Circle, Andhra Pradesh. These were both very important positions.

3. Paytm Launches ‘Health Saathi’ Plan at ₹35 per Month for Merchant Partners
Paytm’s parent company, One 97 Communications Limited, has created “Paytm Health Saathi,” a low-cost health insurance and income safety plan just for its merchant partners. This program is available through the “Paytm for Business” app and is meant to help Paytm’s large network of sellers stay in business and stay healthy.

For as little as ₹35 a month, the plan lets you talk to any doctor via video call or in person at any OPD in the Paytm partner network.
It protects against accidents or natural disasters like storms, fires, and strikes that stop business.

Claims can be easily handled within the app interface, making it easy for merchants to use.
4. ISRO’s Aditya-L1 Completes First Halo Orbit
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said on June 2 that India’s first journey to the sun had finished its halo orbit around the Sun-Earth L1 point on July 2. A station keeper maneuver put the craft into the second halo orbit, which led to this important success.
To Know About Aditya-L1 Mission
Aditya-L1 is an Indian mission that was launched in September 2023 and is a sun observatory that was put in place at the Lagrangian point L1. ISRO saw that it took the Aditya-L1 mission 178 days to go around the L1 point in a halo orbit. On January 6, 2024, ISRO put the spaceship into the halo orbit that was planned.
What does Aditya-L1 want to achieve?
The Aditya-L1 mission’s main goal is to study the chromosphere and corona of the Sun’s upper atmosphere. Its goals include studying how the sun heats up, ionized plasma physics, coronal mass ejections, and flares. Its job is to study the particle and plasma environment, the science of the solar corona, the properties of plasma, and how coronal mass ejections (CMEs) form. The project also wants to find out what causes solar eruptions, measure magnetic fields in the corona, and look into things that affect space weather, such as the solar wind.
5. P. Geetha Receives Inaugural K. Saraswathi Amma Award
The first K. Saraswathi Amma Award was given to writer, critic, and feminist activist P. Geetha. This is a big deal for feminist writing and studies. 7. India to Chair and Host UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee Session.
The 46th meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee will be held in New Delhi, India, from July 21 to July 31, 2024. It will be held at the Bharat Mandapam on Pragati Maidan.
There will be more than 2,500 delegates from 195 countries, such as State Parties, advisory groups, diplomats, heritage experts, scholars, and researchers. India’s permanent representative to UNESCO is Vishal V. Sharma.
