1. NFR Construction builds Indias tallest pier bridge in Manipur

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NF) Construction Organisation has built India’s tallest railway pier bridge across river Makru in the Tamenglong district of Manipur. India’s tallest pier bridge is 100 m tall. It is equivalent to a 33-storey building.

The total cost of the bride is Rs.283.5 crore. The span of 555 m is part of the 111-km Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal new broad gauge line. The pier bridge has 47 tunnels. Of which the longest is 10.28 km.

2. Former MP Krishna Bose passed away in Kolkata

Academic-turned-politician, Krishna Bose, passed away in West Bengal due to cardiac arrest. She was 89 years old. She served as a Member of Parliament elected from the Jadavpur constituency in West Bengal as an All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate.

3. National Organic Food Festival inaugurated in New Delhi

Ministry of Food Processing and Ministry of Women and Child Development jointly inaugurated the National Organic Food Festival in New Delhi. The festival aimed at strengthening organic food produce in the country. It also aimed at encouraging women entrepreneurs in manufacturing organic produce.

4. Asian Wrestling Championships: Ravi Dahiya wins gold

Ravi Dahiya impressed with a gold-winning effort at the Asian Wrestling Championship but India’s biggest Olympic medal hope Bajrang Punia looked good until he ran into Japanese Takuto Otoguro in his final.

5. Wipro Digital acquires customer experience firm Rational Interaction

Wipro Digital, the digital business unit of Bengaluru-based Wipro Ltd said on Friday that it has acquired Washington-based Rational Interaction, a full-service digital customer experience (CX) company.

Rational Interaction has more than 300 employees worldwide with offices in Seattle and Bellevue in Washington; Dublin in Ireland; and Sydney in Australia. As it integrates with Wipro Digital, Rational Interaction will continue to grow and service its clients, with no plans to reduce its current staff.

6. Haryana, Uttarakhand lead in Direct Benefit Transfer payouts

West Bengal has emerged as the worst while new Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) and Ladakh have notched up an impressive show in ratings prepared for the first time by Centre regarding Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payouts.

In a surprise in the ratings chart pertaining to 2019-20, the UTs of J&K and Ladakh clubbed together got the number eight spot among 36 states and UTs, reporting DBT payouts worth Rs 1,190 crore through over 80 lakh transactions.

7. Maharashtra CM presents State awards to 44 sportspersons

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday presented the State sports awards to the winners at a glittering ceremony here.

The Maharashtra government had announced the Shiv Chhatrapati award for 44 sportspersons apart from a lifetime achievement award and awards to sportspersons in the adventure category.

8. Goa ‘Carnival 2020’ kicks off in Panaji

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant flagged off the Carnival 2020 float parade in Panaji on February 22. The different forms of tableaux have been shown during the festival.

Artists also performed their traditional dance at the Carnival 2020. Large number of locals and tourist throng the annual Goa Carnival.

9. CSIR-CDRI Scientist Dr. Niti Kumar gets SERB Women Excellence Award-2020

Dr Niti Kumar, Senior Scientist from Division of Molecular Parasitology and Immunology, CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow has received SERB Women Excellence Award-2020. Award will be conferred by the President of India during National Science Day Celebrations on February 28, 2020, in Vigyan Bhawan.
