1. Dubai to launch the World’s First Air Taxi Service
Planned for the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, the Dubai Air Taxi Service will change the way people get around the city by air. When it launches in 2026, it will be the first city-wide air taxi service in the world.
A city-wide electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi system was approved by Dubai in February 2024 during the World Government Summit.
In committing to developing such a comprehensive service, the parties solidified Dubai’s position as a global leader in transportation innovation.
Important Elements
A four-seater electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft with a range of 161 km and a top speed of 321 km/hr will be used by the air taxi service. Aerial taxi rides across Dubai will soon be available through the city’s growing fleet of vehicles and the vertiport network.
The air taxi service’s most notable characteristics are:
- The all-electric S4 plane produces no pollutants while in flight.
- Very low decibel level when compared to more traditional aircraft types like helicopters
- Vertiport stations need less space compared to conventional airports
- Rapid internet access outpaces traditional modes of transportation
- Streamlined access for passengers and improved convenience
- With this service, Dubai is staying true to its goal of being a transportation leader in sustainability and efficiency. The program aims to revolutionize transportation in contemporary cities by incorporating aerial taxis into cityscapes via vertiports spread out over the city.
2. World Radio Day is observed on February 13 2024
It is World Radio Day today. On February 13th, people all around the world celebrate World Radio Day to bring attention to the vital role of radio and to promote the ease of listening to news and other information through this medium.
The United Nations General Assembly officially recognized the day as an International Day in 2012 after it had been declared a national holiday by UNESCO member states in 2011. Radio: A Century of Informing, Entertaining, and Educating is the topic for this year.
Even though we live in a highly technologically advanced society where multiple forms of communication are readily available, the unique function of radio nevertheless cannot be disregarded. A large portion of the population has come to trust and depend on the radio as a source of both news and pleasure.

3. Sumit Nagal Clinches Chennai Open Title, Secures First-Ever Top 100 Spot
In 2023, with a world ranking of 506, Nagal made it to the ATP Chennai Open Challenger, marking the beginning of his journey.
After suffering a hip injury in 2021 and other setbacks, Nagal never stopped believing in himself and his dream.
Following surgery, he began his comeback last year with a victory in the Chennai Challenger.
His historic achievement came on February 12, 2024, when he won the ATP Chennai Open Challenger, catapulting him from position 121 to 98 in the ATP rankings.
With this feat, Nagal finally cracked the top 100 for the first time throughout his career.
Starting with the 1973 debut of the ATP rankings, just ten Indian men have ever made it inside the top 100.

“Every tennis player dreams of being at least top 100 in the world,” Nadal said after the match, expressing his emotions. He said it was a “very emotional” and unforgettable occasion.
4. Noida Recognized As “Water Warrior” City
The National Capital Region city of Noida has received praise for its innovative approaches to water management and conservation.
Noida has been bestowed the status of “Water Warrior” city by the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, which is subordinate to the Union Water Ministry.
The city’s efforts to treat and reuse its wastewater for a variety of reasons, including irrigation, have been recognized with this accolade.

Noida received two World Water Award 2023–24 accolades during a ceremony in Delhi, India.
Not only did the city’s water reuse project win awards, but it also won the best sewage treatment facility (STP).
These accolades were accepted on behalf of the city by Satish Pal, the additional chief executive officer of the Noida Authority, and RP Singh, the deputy general manager of the authority’s water department.
