1. Ratan Tata Gautam Adani among India’s top 10 most Googled business tycoons

Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata emerged as India’s most searched business tycoon on Google in 2019. Google released a Year in Search 2019 report shows what was trending on the world’s largest search engine during the year in India.

The Tata Group patriarch Google’s most searched Indian business personality in 2019. He heads the Tata Group for 21 years credited with transforming the group from a conventional corporate house into a $100 billion global conglomerate with high-profile acquisitions abroad.

2.China successfully launches largest carrier rocket

China successfully launched the largest carrier rocket of the country, Long March-5 from Wenchang Space Launch Center in south China’s Hainan Province. Long March-5 Rocket The rocket known as CZ-5 blasted off with more than 1,000 tonnes of thrust at 8.45 pm, Xinhua reported.

The Chinese space authorities declared the mission a complete success just over half an hour after the lift-off when the Shijian-20 satellite it carried entered its designated orbit.

5. Indian grandmaster Koneru Humpy becomes 2019 Women’s World Rapid Champion

Indian grandmaster Koneru Humpy has become the 2019 Women’s World Rapid Champion. She defeated China’s Lei Tingjie in a dramatic final in Moscow, Russia.

After losing the opening game, Humpy made an impressive comeback and collected nine points each in 12 rounds to be tied with Tingjie. The duo then played a fierce game to break the deadlock. Tingjie finished with a silver, while Turkey’s Ekaterina Atalik won bronze.

6. India gearing up to host World Dairy Summit in 2022

India is working on developing a smart backyard dairying model near Delhi to showcase it to the world at the World Dairy Summit, which the country will host in 2022.

The annual flagship Summit of International Dairy Federation (IDF) is a platform for dairy stakeholders, including farmers, processors, researchers, and marketers, to exchange knowledge and ideas and experiments on better dairying practices.

7. BEML signs pact with IRCON to explore overseas market

BEML Ltd, a defence public sector, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IRCON International Ltd to explore opportunities in the overseas market by synergising each other’s strengths for large infrastructure projects in the transportation sector.

At a function held in New Delhi, MoU copies were exchanged in the presence of DK Hota, CMD, BEML and SK Chaudhary, CMD, IRCON International Ltd, said a company release.

8. UN ups 2020 budget, includes funds for war crimes probes

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a USD 3.07-billion operating budget which for the first time includes funding for the investigation of war crimes in Syria and Myanmar. The budget represents a slight increase from 2019’s figure of USD 2.9 billion.

The increase is due to additional missions assigned to the UN Secretariat, inflation and exchange rate adjustments, according to diplomats.

9. Astronaut Christina Koch creates record for longest single spaceflight by woman

NASA Astronaut Christina Koch creates a record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman, surpassing the earlier record of 288 days in space. When she arrives back on Earth in February 2020, she will have spent more than 300 days in space.

10. UAE extends 300 million US dollars of development aid to Jordan

The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) announced that it is providing 300 million US dollars as development aid to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

In a statement the UAE government said that “the UAE leadership’s decision reaffirms the commitment to standing alongside the brotherly leadership and people of Jordan, reflecting the nation’s foreign policy that carries the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and continues under the leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa.”

11. Ilaiyaraja selected for Harivarasanam award for 2020

Renowned musician and composer Ilaiyaraja has been selected for this year’s Harivarasanam award.

The award, comprising a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, citation and a plaque, will be presented at a function at Sabarimala Sannidhanam next month. Tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran announced the award.
