1. South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi wins Miss Universe 2019 title
Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi was crowned as Miss Universe 2019 at the event held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, United States. The 26-year-old Zozibini Tunzi was presented the crown by Philippines’ Catriona Gray, who was the Miss Universe winner in 2018.
India was represented by Vartika Singh in the beauty pageant. Vartika Singh failed to enter the top 10 of the Miss Universe 2018 competition. After Lara Dutta had won the crown in 2000, no Indian contestant has been able to win Miss Universe title in all these 19 years.
2. Sanna Marin becomes World’s Youngest-Serving Prime Minister
The 34-year-old Sanna Marin, was selected by her Social Democratic party of Finland to become the country’s youngest prime minister ever, taking over after resignation of outgoing leader Antti Rinne. Sanna who will now be youngest head of government in the country’s history, has earlier served as transport minister of Finland.
3. December 9: International Anti-Corruption Day
The International Day of Anti-Corruption is marked by the United Nations every year on December 9 since 2003. This year the day is being marked by the organization all over the world on the following theme,

4. Integrated Command and Control Centre inaugurated in Haryana
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the ambitious Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Gurgaon, Millennium City of the country. The ICCC has been developed as nerve centre to provide multifaceted online smart services to people.
5. Railways completes work for WiFi, ‘RailWire’ goes live in 5,500 stations
Railways has successfully completed the work of providing free public WiFi at 5500 stations across the country and Mahua Milan Railway Station of East Central Railway zone, became the 5500th station in the country to have free public WiFi.
6. Siu-Ka-Pha Award presented to Dr Padmeswar Gogoi
The Siu-Ka-Pha Award, instituted by the central committee of different ethnic groups and organisations of Golaghat district, was presented to noted educationist, Botanist and folklore researcher Dr Padmeswar Gogoi at a programme held at Siu-Ka-Pha Samannay Kshetra in Golaghat.
7. 41-year-old Wasim Jaffer becomes first ever cricketer to play 150 Ranji matches
Batsman Wasim Jaffer has become the first-ever cricketer to play 150 Ranji Trophy matches, achieving the feat after taking the field for Vidarbha against Andhra on Monday. Jaffer is followed by Devendra Bundela with 145 appearances between 1995 and 2017 and Amol Muzumdar with 136 appearances between 1993 and 2013. Jaffer is also the highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy.
8. India climbs one spot to 129th in 2019 human development index: UNDP
India climbed one spot to 129 among 189 countries in the 2019 human development index, according to a report by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In India, 27.1 crore people were lifted out of poverty from 2005-06 to 2015-16, UNDP India resident representative Shoko Noda said.
9. Indian women’s football team clinches third successive SAG gold, beats Nepal 2-0
The Indian women’s football team won its third consecutive gold medal at the South Asian Games after beating hosts Nepal 2-0 in the summit clash. Bala Devi was the star of the show again as she struck a brace on either side of the half time to guide India to a comfortable victory over the home side in the final.
