1. Pakistan appointed Gary Kirsten as ODI and T20I head coach
Gary Kirsten, who won the World Cup, has been recruited by the Pakistan Cricket Board to serve as their head coach for one-day and Twenty20 internationals.
Jason Gillespie, a former Australian pacer, will take over the post of head coach for Test cricket.
Azhar Mahmood, a former all-rounder for Pakistan, has been promoted to assistant coach responsibilities for the squad across all formats.
Kirsten was the coach of the Indian cricket team that successfully competed in and won the Cricket World Cup in 2011.
2. Praveen Ranjan was appointed as Director in the Department of Expenditure
As a member of the Indian Defence Accounts Services (IDAS) who graduated in 2010, Praveen Ranjan was recently promoted to the position of Director in the Department of Expenditure within the Ministry of Finance.
The candidate was chosen through the Central Staffing Scheme for five years or until further notice, whichever comes first.

3. Indian Navy & UK’s Royal Navy conduct a Joint Exercise
The Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) Argus and Lyme Bay of the United Kingdom, along with the Indian Navy’s INS Sahyadri, took part in a maritime exercise to increase maritime cooperation and interoperability.
To facilitate the sharing of best practices and knowledge between the two fleets, the exercises they participated in included tactical manoeuvres, boarding operations, and helicopter operations.
The rising bilateral defense cooperation between India and the United Kingdom is also brought to light by this.
4. Dubai Breaks Ground on ‘World’s Largest’ Airport Project
With 400 terminal gates and five parallel runways, Dubai is beginning on an ambitious project to build the world’s largest airport, Al Maktoum International Airport.
This airport would have an exceptional capacity to accommodate 260 million people annually and will be the largest airport in the world.

In addition to its role as a transportation hub, Al Maktoum International Airport is envisioned as a metropolis that encompasses all aspects of Dubai South.

5. MAHE Confers Honorary Doctorate on K.V. Kamath
During a special convocation that took place on April 29, 2024, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) presented an honorary doctorate to K.V. Kamath, who is the Chairman of Jio Financial Services Ltd. and the Chairman of the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development.

6. Sarvadanand Barnwal was Appointed as Director in the Department of Land Resources
It has been announced that Sarvadanand Barnwal, who was a member of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) in the year 2010, has been given the position of Director in the Department of Land Resources.
An order was issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, April 26, 2024, which resulted in the appointment being made.
Regarding Recommendation and Tenure
The appointment of Barnwal is made subject to the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) and will last for a term of five years beginning on the date that he takes over control or until further orders are issued, whichever comes first.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation suggested that he be appointed to the central deputation at their recommendation.
7. Eminent Personalities Honoured with Prestigious Pandit Lacchu Maharaj Award
Noted Hindi film superstars Hema Malini and Saira Banu, along with other prominent personalities from the fields of art and culture, will be honoured with the prestigious Pandit Lacchu Maharaj Award.
The award ceremony will take place on 31 August 2024 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
8. Alok Shukla Wins Prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize 2024
Alok Shukla, a well-known environmental activist and the convenor of the Chhattisgarh Bachao Andolan, has been chosen to receive the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize in the year 2024.
In addition to being referred to as the “Green Nobel Prize,” this award is presented annually to grassroots environmental heroes all over the world in recognition of their exceptional achievements in the conservation of the environment.
