1. HGCO19 an mRNA Vaccine Candidate
An additional government funding has been received by India’s mRNA-based Covid-19 vaccine candidate-HGCO19 for its clinical studies. This funding has been awarded under the ‘Mission Covid Suraksha’.
HGCO19, the novel mRNA Vaccine candidate has been developed by Pune-based biotechnology company Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd. in collaboration with HDT Biotech Corporation, USA.
2. Mental-Health Digital Platform MANAS Launched
The Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India virtually launched the “MANAS” App to promote wellbeing across age groups.
MANAS stands for Mental Health and Normalcy Augmentation System. MANAS is a comprehensive, scalable, and national digital wellbeing platform and an app developed to augment mental well-being of Indian citizens.
3. Himachal Day: April 15
Every year, the state of Himachal Pradesh celebrates Himachal Day on April 15. The day is celebrated to commemorate the creation of Himachal Pradesh.
On April 15, 1948, Himachal Pradesh was formed as the province to be administered Chief Commissioner. Later, it was made a “C” category state on January 25, 1950.
4. Agriculture Ministry sign MoU with Microsoft for farmer welfare
The Agricultural Ministry of India recently signed Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft to implement a pilot project for farmer welfare.
The project will focus on technology boosted agriculture.
It will provide smart agricultural techniques to the farmers especially during post-harvest season.
5. Virat Kohli named Wisden Almanack’s ODI Cricketer of Decade
Indian skipper Virat Kohli was awarded the title of the Wisden Almanack’s ODI Cricketer of the 2010s on April 15, 2021. This honour was conferred by the annual sports publication the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.
On the 50th anniversary of the first One-day International, five ODI cricketers of the decade were named in the 2021 edition of the Wisden Crickerters’ Almanack.
6. Citigroup to exit consumer banking in India, 12 other markets
America’s investment bank and financial services company Citigroup has announced that it plans to exit retail banking in 13 global markets, including India. The other 12 affected markets are Australia, Bahrain, China, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Poland, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Citigroup’s Institutional Clients Group will continue to serve clients in these markets.
