1. Indian Coast Guard Inaugurates Aquatic Centre at Mandapam, Tamil Nadu
Director General of the Indian Coast Guard Rakesh Pal opened the Indian Coast Guard Aquatic Center at ICGS Mandapam near Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu.
This was part of his four-day trip to the marine force’s bases in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry.
The purpose of the trip was to look at operational readiness and infrastructure growth in the area, with a focus on making sure the seas are safe, secure, and clean.

2. GAIL Wins 15th CIDC Vishwakarma Award for Barauni – Guwahati Pipeline
The Barauni-Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline project (BGPL) was the proud recipient of the esteemed 15th CIDC Vishwakarma Award in the category of “Achievement Award for Best Construction Projects” from GAIL (India) Limited.
This project, which is a part of the larger Jagdishpur – Haldia & Bokaro – Dhamra Pipeline, will link North-East India to the National Gas Grid, which is a huge step forward.

Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) is responsible for supplying ecologically friendly natural gas to the entire North-East area through the 718 km Barauni – Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline project.
It is worth mentioning that the project serves notable clients like the IOCL refineries in Guwahati and Bongaigaon, along with nine city gas distribution areas in Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam.
3. SIDBI Partners with KarmaLife to Offer Micro Loans for Gig Workers
In order to provide microloans to independent contractors, the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has collaborated with the financial technology platform KarmaLife.
The two companies are teaming up to make it easier for gig workers to get loans without all the red tape by using KarmaLife’s smartphone technology.

4. Sam Pitroda’s New Book ‘The Idea of Democracy’

5. India Tops WADA’s Doping Offenders List in 2022
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) report from 2022 states that, in terms of the percentage of doping offenders, India ranks first. Among the 4,064 samples taken from Indian athletes, 127 (or 3.26 percent) came back positive for prohibited substances.
This exemplifies a worrying pattern in Indian sports and the necessity of taking drastic action to combat doping.

The overall number of samples evaluated increased by 6.4% from the previous year, according to the report. There was an increasing problem on a global scale in 2022, as the percentage of Adverse Analytical Findings (AAFs) increased from 0.65% in 2021 to 0.77%.

6. Wipro Appoints New CEO: Srinivas Pallia
The IT behemoth Wipro has announced that its CEO, Thierry Delaporte, has resigned. With effect from April 7, 2024, Srinivas Pallia will take over as CEO and Managing Director, replacing him, according to the company’s Board of Directors.

7. World Health Day 2024 is observed on April 07
