1. Arogya Setu: Mulit-Lingual Mobile Application launched by GoI to track COVID-19

National Informatics Center operating under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has developed an application “Arogya Sethu”. The app alerts the person whenever he comes in contact within six feet of COVID-19 infected person.

The application uses Bluetooth and GPS of a smart phone to inform the user if he is in a radius of 6 feet from a COVID-19 infected person. The application also provides information about the best practices and advisories regarding containment of the virus.

2. DARPG: National Monitoring Dashboard launched

The main objective of the dashboard is quick and timeMinister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances Dr Jitendra Singh launched the National Monitoring Dashboard on COVID-19. The dashboard is to be developed and implemented by DARPG (Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances).

3. Justice Rajnesh Oswal sworn in as permanent Judge of High Court of J&K, Ladakh under Indian Constitution

Justice Rajnesh Oswal was sworn in as a permanent Judge of the common High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh yesterday. He was administered oath of office by Chief Justice Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Gita Mittal in a simple but impressive ceremony in Jammu. He is the first Judge of the High Court to take oath under the Indian Constitution.

4. Former Arunachal minister Passang Wangchuk Sona dies

Former Arunachal Pradesh minister Passang Wangchuk Sona died on Friday morning at his Mechuka residence in Shi-Yomi district owing to prolonged illness, his family said.

He was 69 and is survived by three sons, a daughter and grandchildren. Assembly Speaker Passang Dorjee Sona is the son of Passang Wangchuk.

5. Indian Railways CLW creates world record! Name registered in Limca Book of Records for highest loco production

New world record by Indian Railways! The locomotive manufacturing factory – Chittaranjan Locomotives Works (CLW) – located in Asansol, West Bengal, has recently registered its name in the Limca Book of Records by creating the highest production record.

In the Financial Year 2018-19, the Chittaranjan Locomotives Works produced as many as 402 electrical locomotives, the highest production record in the world. The locomotive manufacturing factory has surpassed its own record of 350 locomotives manufactured in the year 2017-18. According to Railway Miniter Piyush Goyal, the hard work and dedication of Indian Railways’ family have made this feat possible.

6. SunRISE becomes new NASA mission to study Giant Solar Particle Storms

NASA announced they have selected the proposed Sun Radio Interferometer Space Experiment (SunRISE) mission to study how the Sun creates and releases Giant Solar Particle Storms. This mission will further aid scientists to understand how the Solar System works. It will also help protect future astronauts from Solar Storms while going to the Moon or Mars.

7. Gurbani maestro Nirmal Singh Khalsa dies due to Covid-19

Tony Lewis, the former university lecturer whose name will forever be synonymous with cricket’s Duckworth-Lewis rain rules, has died at the age of 78.

An unlikely star of world cricket, Lewis was propelled to fame in 1999 when his complex formula, devised in conjunction with his fellow mathematician Frank Duckworth, was officially adopted by the ICC to help calculate fair run-chases in the event of overs being lost to rain during that summer’s World Cup.

8. DRDO develops equipment for effective sanitisation of public spaces

In the continuing quest for developing indigenous solutions to combat the Corona Virus Pandemic, Defence research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is ready with technologies for sanitising areas of different sizes. The Centre for Fire Explosive & Environment Safety (CFEES), Delhi has developed two configurations of sanitising equipment. These are spinoffs from technologies developed for fire suppression applications.

9. Veteran British comedian, Eddie Large, passes away due to coronavirus at 78

Veteran English comedian Eddie Large has passed away at the age of 78 after complications due to coronavirus. Large’s son, Ryan McGinnis, shared the news on Facebook, saying his father had been suffering with heart failure and contracted the virus in hospital.
