1. Axis Bank to sell UK arm to tech platform
Private sector lender Axis Bank has entered into a Share Purchase Agreement for sale of 100 per cent stake in its subsidiary, Axis Bank UK Limited to OpenPayd Holdings Ltd. The agreement was entered on March 31, 2021, and the transaction is subject to approval by the UK Financial Regulator, the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).

3. AYUSH Ministry in collab with Vinoba Seva Pratishthan organizes ‘Ayurveda Parav’
In a bid to promote Ayurveda as the mainstream treatment for the prevalent lifestyle-related diseases, Vinoba SevaPratisthan (VSP), in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, has successfully organized a 3-day “Ayurveda Paravin Bhubaneswar. This unique initiative aims to not only ensure greater acceptance of Ayurveda among the masses but also to popularize Ayurveda as the main line of treatment for the current lifestyle diseases.
4. SBI inks USD 1 billion loan agreement with Japan Bank
India’s largest lender, State Bank of India, has raised $1 billion from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to extend loans to the supply chain of the Japanese automobile industry in India. The loan is in the form of refinancing against the funding support provided to the manufacturers, suppliers and dealers of Japanese automobiles in India.
5. Utkal Divas or Odisha Day is celebrated on 1 April
Utkal Divas or Utakala Dibasha is celebrated on April 1 every year to remember the formation of the Odisha state after a struggle to be recognised as an independent state. Under British rule, Odisha was part of the Bengal presidency, which consisted of the present-day Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha.
6. 2021 Global Gender Gap Index: Key findings and India’s Rank
The World Economic Forum has released the Global Gender Gap Report 2021. India has seen a decrease in its ranking on the index by 28 places.
India has been ranked 140th among 156 countries on the index. With this, India became the third-worst performer in South Asia. As per the index, India has closed 62.5% of its gender gap to date. In 2020, India was ranked 112th among 153 countries.
7. Rajinikanth to Be Honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke
Actor-politician Rajinikanth will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2019, India’s highest film honour, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted. “Happy to announce Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2019 to one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema Rajnikant ji.
8. Rajasthan becomes 1st state to provide health insurance for all residents: CM
Rajasthan on Thursday started the registration for its Mukhya Mantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana. “Rajasthan has become the first state in the country, where each family will get health insurance of ₹5 lakh each year,” Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted. “People can get registered and be assured of cashless treatment,” the CM further wrote.
9. Indian government provides NRs 800 crores financial aid to Nepal for road construction project
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu informed on March 31, 2021, that the Indian Government has provided Nepali Rs. 800 crores of grant assistance for strengthening road infrastructure in the Terai region in Nepal. The grant has been provided under a Memorandum of Understanding.
10. China approves contentious proposal to overhaul Hong Kong’s electoral system
China on March 30, 2021, gave its approval to the proposal for the most controversial and sweeping overhaul of Hong Kong’s electoral system. The passed proposal will slash the number of directly elected seats in the city’s legislature from half to about one-fifth and will tighten Beijing’s control in the Special Administrative Region- SAR.
