1. PM Narendra Modi to Inaugurate India’s First Water Metro, Will Improve Connectivity Around Kochi
Kochi Water Metro Project, India’s first-ever initiative to enhance the port city’s development. On April 25, 2023 (Tuesday) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will put this water metro service into action.
With this, the Kochi Water Metro, the country’s first water metro service, on April 25. This transport system will link about 10 island communities in and around Kochi with the mainland.
Centre-state company Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) made the proposal for this watercraft and it received the final environment clearance in October 2019. While the cost of this innovative metro has been Rs 1,136.83 crore, this is going to accelerate living across the Greater Kochi region.
2. EU’s Markets in Crypto ActIndia, Iran and Armenia forms new trilateral to deepen regional relations
The European Union’s legislature has granted final approval to the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulations, which are the new common rules for the crypto space in Europe. The MiCA will regulate the supervision, consumer protection, and environmental safeguards of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
MiCA aims to reduce the carbon footprint of cryptocurrencies and counter the risks of market manipulation, money laundering, and terrorist financing. Larger service providers are obliged to disclose their energy consumption, and licensing for crypto service providers operating in the bloc is introduced. A register for non-compliant companies will also be established.
3. World Day for Laboratory Animals 2023 observed on 24 April
World Day for Laboratory Animals on April 24th advocates for the end of the suffering of animals in laboratories, and their replacement with advanced scientific non-animal techniques. Laboratory animals are used for biomedical research to discover the causes, diagnoses, and treatments of diseases, in the cosmetics industry, and more.
4. Mahavir Singh Phogat Appointed as Chairman of MMA 1
The legendary wrestler and coach, Mahavir Singh Phogat has been appointed as the Chairman of the MMA-1 Federation. Mahavir is responsible for promoting mixed martial arts (MMA) in India.
As the Chairman of the MMA-1 Federation, Phogat will work towards developing and promoting MMA in India, with a focus on identifying and nurturing young talent in the sport. Mohamedali Budhwani the president of MMA1 Federation sent a humble request to Phogat to claim the seat as the chairman, and he gladly accepted the same.
5. India, Iran and Armenia forms new trilateral to deepen regional relations
The first trilateral consultations between the Foreign Affairs Ministry of India, Armenia, and Iran took place in Yerevan.
Mnatsakan Safaryan, the deputy foreign minister of Armenia, Seyed Rasoul Mousavi, the assistant of the foreign minister of Iran, and JP Singh, the joint secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, led their respective delegations at the meeting.
6. RBI imposes Rs 44 lakh penalty on 4 co-op banks
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has levied penalties of Rs 44 lakhs on four cooperative banks for violating various norms. The penalties are based on deficiencies in regulatory compliance and is not intended to pronounce upon the validity of any transaction or agreement entered into by the banks with their customers, the RBI said.
7. World English Day 2023 observed on April 25
Every year on April 23rd, World English Day is observed as a way to honor the language that has become the most commonly spoken in the world. This year also World English Day 2023 is celebrated on 23rd April.

8. Operation Kaveri launched to evacuate Indians from Sudan
India initiated Operation Kaveri to evacuate its citizens from the unrest-stricken Sudan. As per External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s tweet, the operation is currently in progress, and roughly 500 Indians have already arrived at Port Sudan.
Sudan is currently experiencing a violent power struggle between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) across the country.
This conflict arose due to a dispute over an internationally supported plan to establish a new civilian government, four years after the overthrow of authoritarian leader Omar al-Bashir and two years after a military coup.
9. International Delegate’s Day 2023 celebrates on 25th April
Every year on April 25th, International Delegate’s Day is observed to pay tribute to the delegates who are an integral part of the United Nations (UN) and play a significant role in its functioning.
These delegates represent their respective governments and are dedicated to working together under the framework of the UN to address global challenges and achieve multilateral cooperation.
10. World Malaria Day 2023 observed on 25th April
World Malaria Day (WMD) is an international observance commemorated every year on 25 April and recognizes global efforts to control malaria.
The aim of World Malaria Day is to raise awareness of the devastating impact of malaria and to mobilize resources and support for malaria control and prevention programs in endemic countries.
The day serves as an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and governments to come together and renew their commitment to eliminating malaria, which is a preventable and treatable disease.
