Cochin Shipyard undocks India’s First Indigenous Aircraft Carrier – INS Vikrant

India has reached a historical milestone in defence shipbuilding by undocking the first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at the Cochin Shipyard. The carrier is slated for induction in end-2018. will undergo a series of fitment and trial processes before it is ready for propulsion and inducted into the Navy.

The successful completion of the aircraft carrier puts India in the elite group of four nations – the US, Russia, the UK and France – in the world capable of designing and constructing aircraft carriers.

  • The motto of the ship is Jayema Sam Yudhi Sprdhah which means “I defeat those who fight with me”.
