According to the conclusions of the Top Cities for Women in India (TCWI) 2023 report by Avtar Group, a diversity, equity, and inclusiveness consultant, Chennai emerged as the most inclusive and hospitable to working women city in India in 2023.

Both of the categories that were examined in the study were dominated by cities from Tamil Nadu: 49 cities in the category of having a population of one million or more, and 64 cities in the category of having a population of less than one million.

Information Regarding Chennai’s Victory and Rankings
It is not just Chennai that takes home the award for being the best city in India for women among cities with a population of one million or more, but it also maintains its position as the top city for women in the SIS rankings. Its IIS rate dropped by one, and it is currently ranked second on this scale, behind Bengaluru.
According to the findings of the TCWI study, the national CIS average in India was 21.59, which is significantly lower than the CIS average in Chennai, which was 48.42. This suggests that the level of hospitability for women is restricted to a few specific areas within the country.
The Surprising Arrival of Delhi and Changes in Rankings among Cities
It was Delhi, the nation’s capital, which made its debut in the top 10 by placing itself on the eighth spot. Delhi is infamous for the atrocities that it commits against women. Previous year, Delhi was ranked fourteenth in the CIS.
On the other hand, Delhi’s SIS rank, which takes into account the safety of the external social environment for women, fell eight points to number 27 this year.
