Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced a district status for Dadri, the biggest sub-division in the state, increasing the district count of Haryana to 22 from 21.
The government will soon start up the process in this direction and it would speed up the ongoing development process in the area. The chief minister said the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh (RSS) had been treating Dadri as a district since 1992, as it had been appointing representatives in the sub-division in a similar way as they do in a district.
“For the Sangh, Dadri became a district in 1992 when I was looking after the affairs of the RSS in this area. The chief minister said development projects worth Rs 112 crore had been completed in Dadri constituency during the two years of the BJP government. He inaugurated nine more development projects worth Rs 45 crore, including water pipeline, pedestrian lane, in Dadri./p
Earlier, a Haryana cabinet sub-committee, constituted for re-organisation of districts, sub-divisions, and tehsils had proposed creation of three new districts in the state: Dadri, Hansi and Gohana. However, sources in the BJP said Hansi and Gohana might miss the bus this time.“We’re extremely happy. The move would be an end to our endless problems related to water shortage, electricity and road connectivity,” said Radhe Shyam, sarpanch of Bond Khurd village in Charkhi Dadri.
