British Indian Novelist Rana Dasgupta shortlisted for Orwell Prize

British Indian Novelist and Essayist Rana Dasgupta’s Literary work “Capital” has been shortlisted for George Orwell Prize for Political Writing 2015. The book Capital is Gupta’s third literary work. His first two are Tokyo Cancelled (2005) and Solo (2009). His second work, Solo had won the 2010 Commonwealth prize.

The shortlisted book “Capital” deals with life-changing consequences of People residing in Delhi, meeting with multi-billionaires and bureaucrats, politicians, drug dealers and metal traders, slum dwellers and psychoanalysts.

The Orwell Prize comprise a cash award 3000 pounds. The award is being given to commemorate the renowned British journalist, novelist and essayist George Orwell. The winner of the award will be announced on May 21.
