BRICS Summit : PM Narendra Modi proposes ‘Ten Initiatives’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the BRICS Summit in Ufa, Russia, said the problems being faced by the world are common to all the nations. It is possible to mitigate any challenge if we focus on reforms of the United Nations and the UN Security Council. He proposed a 10-point initiative that includes India hosting the first trade fair for the grouping and establishing research centres for railways and agriculture.

PM Modi also referred to the issue of climate change, saying, “Climate change is one of our foremost global challenges. We need to focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency.” The Prime Minister further suggested some steps that BRICS members can take to get closer to each other, terming it as “Das Kadam: 10 steps for the future”.
