Boeing names Muilenburg CEO, succeeding McNerney

Boeing CEO James McNerney is leaving the company’s top executive position, and the Chicago-based aviation manufacturer’s Dennis Muilenburg will take his place.  Muilenburg will move into the CEO and president job at Boeing on July 1 2015. McNerney, 65, who became Boeing’s chief executive in 2005, will retain his role as chairman.

Muilenburg has served in a variety of roles at Boeing during his 30 years at the company, starting as an engineering intern in Seattle in 1985. Since 2013, he has been Boeing’s president and chief operating officer.
