Bengali writer Suchitra Bhattacharya passed away

Noted Bengali Writer Suchitra Bhattacharya has died at the age of 65 after suffering a cardiac arrest in Kolkata. Bhattacharya was well known for her beautiful portrayal of urban, social and feminist issues via her novels. She had penned more than 20 novels, Some of her famous works are

  • Dahan,
  • Kachher Manush,
  • Hemonter Pakhi,
  • Aleek Shukh

Some of her books are the best sellers in Bengali literature. Many of her works have been adapted into films, including Dahan,  a National Award winning film directed by late Rituparno Ghosh.

  • Suchitra Bhattacharya was born in 1950 in Bihar. She was graduated from the Jogamaya Devi College, Kolkata.
