Microsoft appoints Sriram Rajamani as MD of India Research Lab
Microsoft India lab has announced the appointment of Sriram Rajamani as the new managing director.Sriram will spearhead Microsoft India’s office in Bangalore to continue focus on research, innovation and collaboration with the scientific community. He replaces Chandu Thekkath, who was previously the managing director of the lab for two years. Previously, Sriram was the assistant managing director of Microsoft’s India research lab, which he had joined in 2006.

Rajya Sabha appoints 10 MPs to joint panel on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill
Rajya Sabha named 10 of its members to the Joint Committee of Parliament that will go into the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. A resolution moved by Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, on behalf of Home Minister Rajnath Singh, for appointment of ten of its members to the Joint Committee of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha was carried by a voice vote.

BHEL appoints Akhil Joshi as director (power)
Mr. Akhil Joshi presently posted as Executive Director, Bharat Heavy Electricals limited (BHEL) has been appointed as the Director (Power), BHEL for a period of five years from the date of his assumption of charge of the post, or till the date of his superannuation, or until further orders. As Director (Power), Mr. Joshi will be responsible for marketing, erection, commissioning, overall management of power projects and the after-market business for the company.

M Venkaiah Naidu has inaugurated the Independence Day Film Festival
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu while inaugurating the ‘Independence Day Film Festival’ at Siri Fort Auditorium. “Cinema has an important role to create awareness among the people, to propagate patriotism, to inspire the people, to motivate their commitment to the country, and about its unity and integrity,” Naidu told . There are a number of classics like ‘Gandhi’, ‘Shaheed’, ‘Ayirathi Thollayirathi Irupathi Onnu’, ‘Haqueeqat’ and others that have inspired us,” Naidu said while addressing students and dignitaries like Minister Of State for Information & Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore.

IRCTC signs MoU with DRDO to get ready-to-eat food straight out of packet
The passengers of Indian railway will now get fresh and warm food on railway stations as Indian Railway as IRCTC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Defence Food Research Laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for Transfer of Technology of Retort Pouch Processed Foods so that ready-to-eat food can be warmed and eaten straight out of the packet. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has started sale of Ready-to-Eat food packets at some of the Railway stations on trial basis. During the trial period the MRP has been kept at Rs.40/- per packet for all items.

Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry join UDAY scheme
Madhya Pradesh and the Union Territory of Puducherry have signed the memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Power to join the Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana.For operational and financial turnaround of the DISCOMs. With these two MoUs being signed, the total number of states and union territories who are a part of UDAY has risen to 16, the Power Ministry said in a statement. The combined debt of the electricity distribution utilities which will be restructured standsat Rs 2.51 lakh crore as on September 30, 2015.

Flipkart now on Kotak Mahindra Bank’s mobile banking app
Kotak Mahindra Bank (KMB), announced the availability of Flipkart’s mobile site inits mobile banking app, which gives the customer a secure in-app shopping environment. KMB has been expanding the scope of offerings on its mobile banking app, and this move further strengthens its mStore which already allows booking of air tickets, hotels and bus tickets.
