Arun Kumar Jha has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).

  • Arun Kumar Jha was appointed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) of the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
  • He had been working as the Director General of National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) functioning under the Union Ministry of MSME.
  • Arun Jha is a 1985-batch officer of Indian Economics Service (IES).
  • Presently, he is working as Director General of National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD).

About Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)

  •  It is a statutory body established by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act, 1956.
  •  It functions under the aegis of Union Ministry of MSME.
  •  It’s primary objective is to create self-reliance amongst the poor and build strong rural community spirit by producing saleable articles and providing employment.
  • The Headquarters of KVIC is based in Mumbai.
  • It is an apex organization under the aegis of Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
  • Khadi (handspun and hand-woven cloth) was launched in 1920 as a political weapon in the Swadeshi movement of Mahatma Gandhi.
  • The Khadi products are also sold all over India and also in other countries through exhibitions arranged by the commission.
