Amazon India head Amit Agarwal has been appointed as the new chairman of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). Agarwal assumes office at a time when the industry is on a growth trajectory with more than 500 million internet users in India. According to the recently launched Mary Meeker report, India accounts for 12% of the world’s internet users, second only to China (21%).
Dhruv Shringi, co-founder and CEO, Yatra is the vice chairman of IAMAI. Shringi takes over his new role from Deep Kalra, founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip. Satyan Gajwani, vice-chairman of Times Internet has been elected as the new treasurer of the association. Dr. Subho Ray continues to be the president of the association. The tenure of the new council is two years.
Internet and Mobile Association of India
- Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) is a not-for-profit industry body registered under the Societies Act, 1896. Its mandate is to expand and enhance the online and mobile value added services sectors.
- IAMAI also put forward the problems and requirements of the businesses to the consumers, shareholders, investors and the government of India.
- The main purpose of the Internet and Mobile Association of India is to improve and expand the value added services pertaining to mobiles and several online services.
- IAMAI is the only specialized industry body in India representing the interests of online and mobile value added services industry.
