1. Visakhapatnam Port Achieves Top 20 Ranking in World Bank’s CPPI
The 18th spot on the World Bank’s Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) goes to the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA).

2. Prem Prabhakar Appointed MD and CEO of SBICAP Ventures Limited
Prem Prabhakar has been named as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SBICAP Ventures Limited (SVL).
He will start on June 4, 2024. Prabhakar comes to SVL from the State Bank of India (SBI), where he held several top positions, including General Manager and Chief Dealer.
He has more than 24 years of experience in banking. His knowledge of treasury operations and strategy leadership will help SVL reach its growth goals and improve its relationships with investors.
Background and Skills of Prem Prabhakar
Before becoming MD and CEO of SVL, Prem Prabhakar was General Manager at State Bank of India, where he was in charge of retail business operations and the budget at SBI Global Markets and SBI New York.
He has a lot of experience with forex, money markets, swaps, and risk management.
These skills were further enhanced by his time as Director on the board of the Regional Rural Bank, Jharkhand Rajya Gramin Bank.
3. International Albinism Awareness Day 2024 – June 13
Every year on June 13, people around the world celebrate International Albinism Awareness Day.
This day is meant to bring attention to albinism, a rare genetic disorder that makes the skin, hair, and eyes lack color.
The theme for this year, “10 years of IAAD: A decade of collective progress,” shows how people have worked together over the last ten years to help people understand, accept, and support albinos.
Learning About Albinism
Albinism is a major public health issue; about 1 in 20,000 people around the world are affected.
There is no bias against people of any gender or race who have this problem; however, people with dark skin are more likely to have it.
People with albinism don’t have enough melanin, the pigment that gives skin, hair, and eyes their color. This makes their features look lighter than they normally would.
4. Gulveer Singh clinches Silver Medal in Men’s 5000 metre race.
Indian runner Gulveer Singh won silver in the men’s 5000-meter race at the Portland Track Festival Meet in Portland, US.
The Indian man who won third place in the Asian Games also set a new record in the men’s 5000-meter race.
Avinash Sable had set the previous record of 13 minutes 19.30 seconds, which Gulveer beat with a time of 13 minutes 18.92 seconds.
5. Lt Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman appointed as Bangladesh new Army chief.
Officer General Waker-Uz-Zaman was chosen to lead Bangladesh’s Army for three years.
He used to be the Chief of General Staff (CGS), but now he is the head of the army.
On December 20, 1985, he was made a captain in the Corps of Infantry.
6. India to host 2025 FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup.
The International Hockey Federation’s Executive Board chose India to hold the first-ever Junior World Cup in December 2024.
The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup was last held in 2023 in Malaysia, and Germany won it.
The FIH Hockey Junior World Cup will have 24 teams for the first time.
