1. TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu Takes Oath As Andhra Pradesh CM
Three years after vowing to enter the Assembly only as Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu has been sworn in for his fourth term as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
The oath-taking ceremony, held near Gannavaram Airport in Kesarapalli on the outskirts of Vijayawada, saw the attendance of key figures including PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
In a significant moment in 2021, Naidu had publicly shed tears for the first time after derogatory remarks were made against his wife by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders, prompting him to take a solemn vow to return to the Assembly only as Chief Minister.
Chandrababu Naidu took oath as the CM of Andhra Pradesh. After taking oath, AP CM hugged PM Modi at the stage. Followed by Chandrababu Naidu, JanaSena leader Pawan Kalyan and Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh also took oath as council of Ministers in the state.
Naidu first became the Chief Minister of the then-undivided Andhra Pradesh in 1995, serving two consecutive terms. In 2014, he became the first Chief Minister of the newly bifurcated Andhra Pradesh, holding office until 2019. His return to power follows a landslide victory in the 2024 elections.
2. Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi To Be Next Chief Of Army Staff
As of now, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi is the new Chief of the Army Staff. From the 30th of this month, he will be in charge.
Right now, General Manoj C. Pande is Chief of the Army Staff. He will step down on June 30, 2023.
Lt. Gen. Upendra Dwivedi was born on July 1, 1964, and joined the Indian Army on December 15, 1984, as an officer in the Infantry (Jammu and Kashmir Rifles).
He has worked in many different roles throughout his long and successful career, which spans almost 40 years.
Before being named Vice Chief of the Army Staff, the officer held important positions as a Lieutenant General, such as Director General of Infantry and General Officer Commanding in Chief (Headquarters Northern Command) from 2022 to 2024.
Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi went to the Sainik School, Rewa, the National Defence College, and the US Army War College.
He also has a M Phil in Defense and Management Studies and two Master’s degrees in Military Science and Strategic Studies. The Param Vishisht Seva Medal, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and three GOC-in-C Commendation Cards have been given to him.
3. Eighth Edition of Japan-India Maritime Exercise (JIMEX 24)
The Indian Navy’s Stealth Frigate INS Shivalik took part in the 8th version of the Japan-India Maritime Exercise, which started in Yokosuka, Japan.
The Guided Missile Destroyer JS Yugiri is representing the JMSDF, and helicopters from both forces are also taking part.
The exercise brings people together and shows that everyone in the Indo-Pacific area is still committed to maritime security.
4. UN declares 2025 ‘International Year of Quantum’ and Technology
To get more people interested in and behind quantum science, the UN has named 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
The decision, which was brought up by Ghana, stresses the importance of using quantum technologies for sustainable development in areas like medicine, renewable energy, financial inclusion, and safe communication.
A quantum computer will be built in Brisbane by PsiQuantum.
5. World Day Against Child Labour 2024: 12th June
The International Labour Organization (ILO) set up the first World Day Against Child Labor in 2002.
Around the world, 218 million kids work now, and many of them do it full-time.
They aren’t in school, so they don’t have much time to play.
‘Let’s act on our commitments: End Child Labour.’ is the theme of World Day Against Child Labor 2024.
6. Japan-India Maritime Exercise JIMEX-24 Kicks Off in Yokosuka
The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) is hosting the 8th Japan-India Maritime Exercise (JIMEX-24), which started in Yokosuka, Japan.
INS Shivalik from the Indian Navy and JS Yugiri from Japan are taking part.
Review of the Exercise
Both the harbor and sea stages make up JIMEX-24. During the harbor phase, sailors from both navies are supposed to get to know each other better and form stronger ties.
In the sea phase, multi-domain actions are used to test warfighting skills and make them more interoperable.
Take Part and Aim
ISSUES Shivalik is in charge of the Indian Navy, and JS Yugiri is in charge of the JMSDF.
The purpose of the drill is to help operational interactions, learn from each other’s best practices, and reaffirm commitments to maritime security in the Indo-Pacific area.
