1. Shri Kamal Kishore Soan takes over the charge of Director General, ESIC

On May 31, Shri Kamal Kishore Soan was given the extra job of Director General of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), which is part of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

His IAS rank is senior, and he is from the Jharkhand Cadre (Batch: 1998). He is now working as an additional secretary and director general for labor welfare in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

What Kamal Kishor Soan Says

The top IAS officer Kamal Kishor Soan is from the Jharkhand Cadre and was commissioned in 1998. He is now working as an Additional Secretary and Director General for Labour Welfare in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Kamal Kishor Soan taught and helped workers in Sub-Division Durbuk learn about important programs and gave out e-Shram cards and awards. More than 200 people took part in the event.

2. Two bird Sanctuaries of Bihar added to Ramsar List

The number of Ramsar Sites in India has grown to 82 with the addition of two bird reserves from Bihar.

These are called Nagi and Nakti. On June 5, which is World Environment Day, two new “Wetlands of International Importance” were added to the Ramsar List. They are man-made lakes in the Jhajha forest area of the Jamui District in Bihar.

In the Jhajha forest area of Jamui, these two new wetlands are man-made lakes. The Secretary of the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (DEFCC) of Bihar said, “Their catchments are made up of dry deciduous forests surrounded by hills.”

3. India’s First Biosphere in a Tiger Reserve

People who care about the earth, Jai Dhar Gupta and Vijay Dhasmana The Rajaji Raghati Biosphere (RRB), which is in the Rajaji National Park in Uttarakhand and is India’s first biosphere, was made in a tiger reserve.

About Biosphere

The biome is in Uttarakhand’s Rajaji National Park. It looks out over the rocky, white Raghati riverbed, which is in the foothills of the Shivalik range.

The biosphere is a 35-acre private forest project that aims to find and bring back to life rare and endangered species of local trees while keeping the area safe from mining and poachers.

Before it was set aside for RRB, the land was empty and in bad shape.

4. C-DOT Wins UN WSIS Award for Disaster Resilience Technology

The Indian government set up the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) on August 24, 1984. It is one of the best places for study and development in telecommunications.

Its goal is to change the way telecom works in India by making cutting-edge technologies and goods that work well in India.

Recognition of the UN WSIS+20 Award

The WSIS+20 Forum High-Level Event 2024 took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 27–31. For its project “Mobile-Enabled Disaster Resilience through Cell Broadcast Emergency Alerting,” C-DOT won the prestigious “Champion” award in the AI, C-7, E-environment area.

5. Nar Singh, Rohini Lokhande win Dilip Bose Lifetime Achievement Award

The Dilip Bose award for lifetime success has been given to coach Nar Singh by the All India Tennis Association (AITA).

The first award would be given to Rohini Lokhande, who is 69 years old and used to play on the national team with Kiran Bedi, Nirupama Mankad, Susan Das, and Udaya Kumar. She became a teacher at a young age.

About this award

It was created by the All India Tennis Association in 2002 as an award for Dilip Bose’s lifetime of work.

There will be an 11th National Coaches Workshop at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana in Pune on June 7 and 8. This is where the award and a cash prize of Rs.50,000 will be given out.

6. World Food Safety Day 2024 – June 07

Every year on June 7, people all over the world celebrate World Food Safety Day.

The goal is to make people more aware of how important food safety is and encourage them to take steps to stop, find, and handle risks that come from food. Today is an important reminder of how important food safety is for making sure everyone can get safe, healthy food.

How World Food Safety Day came to be

The United Nations (UN) came up with the idea for World Food Safety Day in 2016.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) were asked by the UN to work together to improve food safety around the world.

The seventh of June was chosen as World Food Safety Day in 2018. On August 3, 2020, the World Health Assembly passed a motion recognizing how important food security is.
