1. IIT Bombay ranks in the top 150 in the QS World University Rankings
IIT Bombay has been ranked among the first 150 universities in the QS World University Rankings. Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar has expressed happiness over this achievement.
It is noteworthy that the QS World University Rankings provide scores to universities around the world after assessing them on different scales.
Based on this, the ranking is prepared. IIT Bombay has made it to the top 150 universities in the world in the 2023 rankings.
IIT Bombay has the 149th position in this ranking. After this, the second Indian institute is IIT Delhi. He has been given the 197th rank.
2. Indian-origin Aarti Hola-Maini appointed UNOOSA Director
Indian-origin Aarti Hola-Maini has been appointed as Director of the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna. Aarti is a satellite industry expert. She will take over from Simonetta Di Pippo of Italy.
The announcement of Aarti’s appointment was made by the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Besides holding an experience of over 25 years in the fields of administration and as a lawyer, she is an expert in space science and technology.
3. Calcutta team emerges victorious in historic Dubai Women’s Kabaddi Final
In a significant milestone for women’s Kabaddi, Dubai hosted the world’s first international Women’s Kabaddi final, featuring the Calcutta and Punjab teams also.
The intense match concluded with the Calcutta team emerging as champions, securing a grand prize of ₹10,000,000.
The Punjab team demonstrated commendable skills and earned the second position, receiving a prize of ₹5,000,000.
4. India ranked 67th on Energy Transition Index, Sweden on top: World Economic Forum
The World Economic Forum ranked India at the 67th place globally on its Energy Transition Index and said it is the only major economy with energy transition momentum accelerating across all dimensions.
Sweden topped the list and was followed by Denmark, Norway, Finland and Switzerland in the top five on the list of 120 countries.
Releasing the report published in collaboration with Accenture, the WEF said the global energy transition has plateaued amid the global energy crisis and geopolitical volatilities, but India is among the countries that have made significant improvements.
5. Priya A.S. received Sahitya Akademi Award 2023 for children’s literature
Priya A S, a talented writer, has been honored with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2023 in the Malayalam language for her novel “Perumazhayathe Kunjithalukal” (The Children Who Never Withered).
This recognition adds to her previous achievement of winning the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Children’s Literature in 2020 for the same novel.

6. UP launches ‘Operation Conviction’ for cow slaughter
The Uttar Pradesh Police has recently initiated a comprehensive program named ‘Operation Conviction‘ to combat criminals and organized crime in the state.
This strategic initiative aims to expedite the conviction process, particularly in cases related to heinous crimes such as rape, murder, cow slaughter, religious conversion, and those registered under the POCSO Act.

7. Jhulan Goswami, Heather Knight, Eoin Morgan join MCC World Cricket Committee
The MCC World Cricket Committee (WCC) has expanded its ranks by welcoming three new members: English players Heather Knight and Eoin Morgan, as well as legendary Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami.
