1. Ajay Singh takes over as IBA Vice President
The former president of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) Ajay Singh now assumes the position of Vice President of the International Boxing Association (IBA).
After the Women’s World Championships event, the IBA Directors Meeting was also held and his appointment was confirmed as the next VC. Soon Croatia will be hosting the Youth World Championships for the first time.

The IBA was recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the international governing body for the sport of boxing until 2019, when the IOC suspended its recognition of the federation

2. Humza Yousaf wins Scotland Leadership Elections 2023
Pakistan-origin Humza Yousaf wins SNP (Scottish National Party) Leadership Elections with 24,336 votes. He is the first Muslim to become the youngest chief of the country. The election results were announced on March 27, 2023 (Monday) after tough rounds that revealed party divisions among the members considering the policy and independence campaigns.
Who is Humza Yousaf?
Humza Yousaf who won the race is now the First Minister Delegate of Scotland and his tenure begins in March 2023. He previously carried out many community works in charity fundraising and youth organisations. He defeated Kate Forbed by a close mark in the second round of the 2023 elections.
3. Ashwini Vaishnaw introduced India’s first-ever Quantum Tele Communication Network Link
The Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw announced India’s first quantum-secured telecom network. This communication link is now functional in the national capital of India i.e. Delhi.

At the global conference, the Telecom Ministry invited legal hackers to break this highly secured system of quantum communications. Also, upon doing so the government will grant a cash prize worth Rs 10 lakhs.

4. Star Sports Channel appoints Ranveer Singh as its New Ambassador
- Famous Bollywood Actor Ranveer Singh has been made Ambassador of Star Sports channel which is owned by Walt Disney Company, India.
- The sensational actor will be assigned the work of developing entertainment content.
- The mission is to enhance India in the area of sports. As per Kroll’s Celebrity Brand Valuation Study, Virat Kohli along with Ranveer Singh were both announced as the most esteemed stars.
5. BCCI partners with Herbalife Nutrition for IPL 2023
- The Board of Control for Cricket in India makes Herbalife its official partner for the upcoming Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) for the present season 2023.
- Spectators of Cricket can witness the goodness of these nutritional products that will increase the performance levels of sports persons.
- As per the schedule, IPL matches will be held between March 31 to May 26, 2023, across the country.
6. A book titled ‘Basu Chatterji: And Middle-of-the-Road Cinema’ released
A new book titled ‘Basu Chatterji: And Middle-of-the-Road Cinema’ has been released, which chronicles the life and times of the veteran Indian filmmaker Basu Chatterjee. The book is written by Aniruddha Bhattacharjee, an award-winning author, and has been published by Penguin Random House India (PRHI).
The book takes readers behind the scenes of some of Chatterjee’s most memorable films, such as ‘Chitchor’, ‘Sara Aakash’, ‘Khatta Meetha’ and ‘Baton Baton Mein’. It provides insights into Chatterjee’s filmmaking style and the cultural and social context in which his films were made.
7. Tamil writer Perumal Murugan’s novel ‘Pyre’ makes it to International Booker 2023 longlist
Perumal Murugan’s novel ‘Pyre’, which deals with caste-based discrimination, has been nominated for the 2023 International Booker Prize longlist.
Originally written in Tamil under the title ‘Pukkuli’, the book follows the story of a couple from different castes who flee their village, triggering a dark and ominous tale. The book was translated into English by Aniruddhan Vasudevan in 2016.
8. Saudi Arabia becomes Shanghai Cooperation Organization dialogue partner
The Saudi Arabian government has taken a significant step towards joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), a regional alliance dominated by China and Russia.
During a cabinet meeting presided over by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, a memorandum was approved to initiate dialogue with the SCO. The decision to pursue membership was reportedly raised during a visit to Saudi Arabia by Chinese President Xi Jinping in December of last year.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was established in June 2001 by China, Russia, and several Central Asian countries including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. In 2017, Pakistan and India were granted full membership.
9. Kashmir’s Aliya Mir honoured with Wildlife Conservation Award 2023
The Union Territory has awarded wildlife conservationist Aliya Mir for her exceptional efforts in conservation. Aliya is the first woman from Jammu and Kashmir to work for Wildlife SOS and is the first woman in the region to receive this honour.
She received the award from Lt. Manoj Sinha at the World Forestry Day celebrations hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir Collective Forests.
Aliya was recognized for her remarkable contributions to wildlife conservation, including rescuing and releasing wild animals, caring for injured animals, and saving bears in Kashmir.
10. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman honoured with literary award
The Foundation of SAARC Writers and Literature (FOSWAL) presented a unique literary award to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Bangladesh for his trilogy of books, which includes The Unfinished Memoirs, The Prison Diaries, and the New China 1952.
FOSWAL acknowledged Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s exceptional literary skills and awarded him for his outstanding literary excellence in the trilogy, according to the citation provided by the organization.
