1. Victorious Moment for “RRR”, Bagged Five Awards at Hollywood Critics Association 2023 Event

SS Rajamouli’s RRR has achieved laudable success as the spectacular action drama film bags five awards at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards ceremony 2023 in Los Angeles, California.

The film was honoured with various category awards which are five major category awards in the Best Stunts, Best Original Song (Naatu Naatu), Best Action Film, Best International Film and Spotlight award categories.

The Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli along with the famous music composer MM Keeravani and their families attended the big event.

2. Meta launches New LLaMA

In the world of artificial intelligence, chatbots have become a ubiquitous tool for communication. Companies have been striving to create their own chatbots to cater to the needs of their customers.

After the success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, several companies have launched their own versions of chatbots to grab a share of the market. META, which loves to monopolize the “Internet Chat” world, has launched its new chatbot called LLaMA.

3. Kerala: First State to use Robotic Manhole cleaners

Kerala uses a BANDICOOT robot to clean sewage. With this, it has become the first state to launch robotic scavengers. BANDICOOT was launched in the temple town Guruvayur. Genrobotics developed the robot.

  • The main objective of developing the robot is to eliminate manual scavenging.
  • The robot has been in use since 2018.
  • However, this is the first time, it is being used to clean public manholes, replacing humans.
  • The robot fulfils its purpose of the invention for the first time.
  • BANDICOOT was already used in several other states but not for scavenging purposes and not in public places.

4. APEDA signs pact with Lulu to promote millets in GCC

The FSSAI recently released standards for millets; GoI is to promote millets in the brand name “Shree Anna”; millet production is to be boosted in the country, 2023 was made the International Millets Year by UN.

More and more plans are coming up in promoting millet.

  • One such is the recent MoU signed by APEDA with the LULU group.
  • Under the agreement, APEDA will promote millets in GCC.
  • APEDA is the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority.
  • The GCC countries are Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait.

5. NASA Space-X Crew-6 Mission to ISS

  • The Crew-6 mission is to be launched on February 27 from the Kenedy Space Centre of NASA located in Cape Canaveral.
  • It is a joint operation of both NASA and SpaceX. The Crew Dragon capsule will be carried by the Falcon 9 rocket of SpaceX.
  • The capsule is being sent to the International Space Station.
  • The mission is launching 2 US astronauts, one Russian Cosmonaut, and a UAE astronaut. This is Crew Dragon’s fourth flight.

6. Germany pursue an agreement with India to build 6 submarines for $5.2 billion

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit to India on February 25–26 will focus on advancing a $5.2 billion agreement between Germany and India to jointly construct six conventional submarines in India.

The naval project is a Western military manufacturing power’s most recent effort to wean New Delhi off of its reliance on Russian military hardware.

7. India, Guyana set to ink pact on oil & gas sector

India and Guyana have agreed to cooperate in the oil and gas sector, including long-term crude purchase from the South American country and investment in its upstream sector. Oil minister Hardeep Singh Puri met Guyana president Mohamed Irfaan Ali.
