1. Union Cabinet approves MoU between India, UAE for scientific and technical cooperation
The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi approved the Memorandum of Understanding on the scientific and technical cooperation between the Ministry of Earth Sciences, India and the National Centre of Meteorology, UAE.
2. WHO sets up global stockpile of Ebola vaccines
The World Health Organization along with partner agencies informed on January 12, 2021 that they are establishing a global stockpile of Ebola vaccines to control future outbreaks.
3. Government to buy 83 Tejas Light Combat Aircraft for Rs. 45,696 crores
The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi on January 13, 2021, gave its approval for the purchase of 10 trainer aircraft and 83 Tejas Light Combat Aircraft fighter jets at the price of Rs. 45.7 crores. The Tejas LCA is an indigenously designed and manufactured fourth-generation fighter.

6. Bharat Biotech signs deal with Brazil’s Precisa Medicamentos for Covaxin supply
Bharat Biotech has signed an agreement with Precisa Medicamentos for the supply of COVAXIN to Brazil. The agreement follows a visit by a team from Precisa Medicamentos to Bharat Biotech’s facility last week to discuss potential export possibilities of the vaccine.
7. US government designates Cuba as state sponsor of terrorism
The government of the United States on January 11, 2021, re-designated Cuba as a State Sponsor of Terrorism for frequently providing support for the acts of international terrorism in granting safe harbor to the terrorists.

8. RBI cancels the licence of Vasantdada Nagari Sahakari Bank
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cancelled the licence of Maharashtra-based Vasantdada Nagari Sahakari Bank, with immediate effect. Vasantdada Nagari Sahakari Bank Ltd will now not be allowed to conduct the business of ‘banking’, including acceptance of deposits and repayment of deposits, with effect from the close of business on January 11, 2021.
9. RBI slaps Rs 2 crore fine on Deutsche Bank for non-compliance
The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a penalty of Rs 2 crore on Deutsche Bank AG for non-compliance with certain provisions of directions concerning interest rate on deposits.
