1. Technology Platform called CHAMPIONS launched by PM Modi
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched technology platform called CHAMPIONS. CHAMPIONS Stand for Creation and Harmonious Application of Modern Processes for Increasing the Output and National Strength.
The portal aims to make smaller units big by supporting them, encouraging, solving their grievances, helping and handholding. It will act as one-stop shop solution of all entities of the MSME sector.
2. GoI launches PM SVANidhi scheme
Government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme for street vendors. The Union cabinet has cleared the credit amount for the scheme as well. Under the scheme, Rs 10,000 of credit is to be provided to street vendors. The street vendors shall return the amount as monthly installments within a year.
3. “Ultra Swachh” Booth developed by DRDO to disinfect PPEs
The Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) developed a disinfection unit called Ultra Swachh. The unit is used to disinfect articles such as electronic items, Personal Protective Equipment, fabrics, etc.
4. Paytm Mall to shift operations to B’luru, appoints Abhishek Rajan as COO
Paytm Mall has decided to shift its operations from Noida to Bengaluru. It has appointed Abhishek Rajan as the new Chief Operating Officer. Paytm Mall also plans to hire over 300 people for product and technology roles. Former COO Srinivas Mothey has been elevated to Senior VP Merchants Solutions at Paytm.
5. International Sex Workers Day is observed on June 02
International Sex Workers Day is observed annually on June 2 of each year, honours sex workers and recognises their often exploited working conditions. The event commemorates the occupation of Église Saint-Nizier in Lyon by more than a hundred sex workers on June 2, 1975 to draw attention to their inhumane working conditions.
6. SN Rajeshwari appointed as new CMD of Oriental Insurance
The Banks Board Bureau (BBB) appointed SN Rajeshwari as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Delhi-based Oriental Insurance Company (OIC). She will be the successor of AV Girija Kumar, 60 years old, who retires on May 2020.
7. RK Chaturvedi (IAS) assumes Charge as Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals
Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi (IAS) has assumed charge as Secretary in the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) had approved his appointment in the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals during a major bureaucratic reshuffle in April. With this, Chaturvedi has replaced P Raghavendra Rao who superannuated on May 31.
8. DRDO develops ‘Ultra Swachh’ for disinfection of PPEs, electronic items, fabrics
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed a disinfection unit called ‘Ultra Swachh’ to disinfect a wide range of materials, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), electronics items, fabrics, etc.
9. INS Jalashwa reaches Tamil Nadu with over 700 Indians onboard from Sri Lanka
About 700 Indian labourers have landed at the Thuthukudi Chidambaranar port in Tamil Nadu. They arrived by the Indian Naval Ship INS Jalashwa under the Operation Samudra Sethu for bringing labourers from other countries by ships.
10. Mudra Shishu loan announced for small businesses
The centre has announced the launch of ‘Mudra Shishu loan’ to benefit small businesses and cottage industries. Under the scheme, one lakh beneficiaries can avail an interest benefit of 2 percent for a year.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the ‘Mudra Shishu loan’ while announcing the second tranche of the centre’s 20 lakh crore package to revive the Indian economy amid COVID-19 pandemic.
