2. NITI Aayog and Union Territory of Ladakh signed MoU for Development of Infrastructure Projects
NITI Aayog entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UT administration on 17 January 2020. The MoU NITI Aayog will be supporting the UT’s administration through its crucial initiative Development Support Services to States for Infrastructure Projects (D3S-i). The MoU executed in the presence of NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and Joint Secretary MC Jauhari.
3. Pariksha Pe Charcha 2020 to be held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi
Students teachers and parents across India are waiting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interaction program Pariksha Pe Charcha-2020. The event will be held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. The two thousand students, parents, and teachers will be participating from all over the country.
4. Sania Mirza won women doubles title of WTA International trophy at Hobart
Sania Mirza lifted the WTA Hobart International trophy with partner Nadiia Kichenok after edging out Shuai Peng and Shuai Zhang in the final. The unseeded Indo-Ukrainian pair pipped the second seed Chinese team 6-4 6-4. Sania begun well in the Olympic year warmed up for the Australian Open. Sania’s 42nd WTA doubles title and first since Brisbane International trophy in 2007.
5. Vinesh Phogat won gold medal in Rome Ranking Series
Vinesh Phogat won her first gold medal of the 2020 season at the Rome Ranking Series. Anshu Malik settled for a silver in 57kg competition in Rome. The two fierce Chinese rivals on her way to the 53kg gold medal bout in which she overpowered Ecuador’s Luisa Elizabeth Valverde 4-0. She won by technical superiority against Khrystyna Bereza (10-0) and Lannan Luo (15-5) before getting the better of Qianyu Pang (4-2).
6. Amazon to invest 1 billion USD in India
Amazon.com chief Jeff Bezos announced USD 1 billion over Rs 7,000 crore investment in India to help bring small and medium businesses online and committed to exporting USD 10 billion worth of India-made goods by 2025. 7. DV Sadananda Gowda launches APNA UREA Sona Ugle brand of HURL
Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda launched the APNA UREA – Sona Ugle brand of Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited (HURL) at a function in New Delhi. HURL HURL is a Joint Venture Company promoted by the three Maha Ratna Companies – Coal India Limited, NTPC Limited, and Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
8. Kuldeep Yadav became the fastest Indian spinner to take 100 wickets in ODIs
Kuldeep Yadav became the fastest Indian spinner to claim 100 wickets in ODI during the second match against Australia in Rajkot. The left-arm wrist-spinner reached the milestone in his 58th match when he got rid of Alex Carey for 18 in the 38th over of the Australian run chase. The fastest to 100 wickets was Harbhajan Singh in 76 matches.
9. National Book Trust appointed Lt Col Yuvraj Malik as director
Lt Col Yuvraj Malik appointed as the Director of the National Book Trust on deputation from the Indian Army. He will replace Sahitya Akademi-awardee writer Rita Chowdhury.
He served with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Raj Bhawan in Jammu & Kashmir, United Nations Missions in Africa, and several operational areas. National Book Trust came under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
10. Haryana dominates Wrestling by winning six gold medals in Khelo India Youth Games
Haryana continues its dominance in wrestling at the 3rd Khelo India Youth Games in Guwahati. Haryana won six of the 11 gold. Maharashtra got three gold medals in wrestling and reached 150 marks on the medals tally with 42 golds overall. Haryana retained the second spot with 111 medals, including 36 gold. Delhi is third and Uttar Pradesh in the fourth position.
