1. Maharashtra CM approved Rs.1680 cr water supply scheme for Aurangabad
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has approved Rs.1680 crore to water supply scheme for Aurangabad town in the Marathwada region. Around 16lakh people of Aurangabad are going to be benefitted by this water supply scheme from the Jayakwadi dam.
2. Maritime Communication Services in India launched
Maritime Communication Services to offer broadband services to support those travelling at sea was launched at Mumbai, Maharashtra. Along with Maritime Communication Services, a web portal for reporting stolen mobiles to help trace them was also launched.
This portal is under a project called Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system, which has been undertaken by Department of Telecom for addressing security, theft and other concerns including reprogramming of mobile handsets.
3. UNESCO to publish Guru Nanak Dev’s writing in world languages
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has decided to translate and publish an anthology of writings of Baba Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism (and also 1st of 10 Sikh Guru) in world languages to commemorate 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
4. Rajasthan launches ‘Jan Soochna Portal’
The state government of Rajasthan launched ‘Jan Soochna Portal’, a portal for quick access to information on government departments. The portal was launched by Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and is a step of state government towards making Rajasthan a model state for good governance and accountability in administration.
5. 100 Days of Civil Aviation Ministry: India’s tallest air traffic control tower inaugurated
The tallest Air Traffic Control tower was inaugurated in India earlier this month at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The tower will ensure up-to-date services and systems for efficient, smooth and uninterrupted air traffic management.
6. International Day of Democracy 15 September
This year’s International Day of Democracy is an opportunity to recall that democracy is about people. Democracy is built on inclusion, equal treatment and participation — and it is a fundamental building block for peace, sustainable development and human rights.

7. Aadhaar verification to be mandatory for new dealers from January 2020: GST Network
The GST Network on Saturday decided to make Aadhaar authentication or physical verification mandatory for new dealers from January 2020 to check malpractices in Goods and Services Tax. “Aadhaar authentication of new registered dealers will be mandatory.
Earlier it was optional. But we have noticed in two years that large number of fly-by-night operators are registering themselves as GST dealers. They make fake invoices also,” Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who heads the group of ministers of GST Network, told reporters.
8. Lakshya Sen wins Belgian International badminton title
Rising Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen stunned second seed Victor Svendsen of Denmark in straight games to clinch the men’s singles title at the Belgian International Challenge.
Lakshya was at his best as he notched up a comfortable 21-14 21-15 win over Svendsen in the title clash that lasted for 34 minutes.
9. Great Ganga Run-2019 flagged off in New Delhi
Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju today flagged off Great Ganga Run-2019 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
It was organized to create awareness about the river Ganga. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shekhawat said, participation of the people in the run corroborates the fact that people are not only aware of the importance of water but are active to conserve the important resource.
10. Kapil Dev appointed Chancellor of Haryana Sports University
Cricket legend Kapil Dev will be the first Chancellor of the Haryana Sports University at Rai in Sonipat district. The Sports University of Haryana will be the third sports university established by a state government in the country after Swarnim Gujarat Sports University (Gandhinagar) and Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University (Chennai).

12. IIT Madras finds an eco-friendly way to degrade plastics
Three years ago researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras observed silver slowly dissolving in a glucose solution when heated to 70 degree C. Now, the team has demonstrated an environment-friendly strategy to degrade the chemically inert and physically stable plastic fluoropolymer — polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) of which Teflon is made.
