- Miss Korea Jenny Kim crowned Miss Supranational 2017
Miss Korea Jenny Kim, as she bagged the title of Miss Supranational 2017 at the gala event, which was held on December 1 in Poland’s Spa Resort of Krynica- Zdroj.
The 24-year-old model impressed judges with her intelligence and her beauty. Romania’s Bianca Tirsin was announced as the second runner-up.
Ethiopia’s Bitaniya Yosef and Puerto Rico’s Larissa Santiago were announced as the third runner-up and the fourth runner-up respectively in the coveted beauty pageant.
- Hello Kitty appointed as UNWTO’s Special Ambassador
UNWTO and Sanrio signed an agreement that appoints Hello Kitty as Special Ambassador of the International Year.
Sanrio’s best-known character, Hello Kitty will promote the Year’s campaign “Travel. Enjoy. Respect”.
Hello Kitty will be supporting UNWTO with its advocacy efforts in communicating the messages of the IY2017 to the broadest extent possible, as well as highlighting the role of tourism in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a global audience.

- Infosys appoints Salil Parekh as CEO and Managing Director
Infosys has announced the appointment of Salil S Parekh as chief executive officer and managing director.
The appointment, Infosys said in a press release, will be effective January 2, 2018. Mr Parekh will replace U B Pravin Rao, who took over as the Bengaluru-based IT company’s interim CEO and managing director in August.
- Anshu Prakash appointed as Delhi Chief Secretary
Senior bureaucrat Anshu Prakash was appointed Delhi’s new chief secretary. Prakash was earlier additional secretary and financial advisor in the rural development ministry. A 1986 batch IAS officer of Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, Prakash has been “prematurely repatriated” to his parent cadre from the ministry.

- Cabinet approves setting up of National Nutrition Mission
The Union Cabinet has approved setting up of National Nutrition Mission (NNM) with a three year budget of Rs 9046.17 crore commencing from 2017-18.
The National Nutrition Mission will create synergy to achieve the common goal through a robust convergence mechanism.
The NNM will be an apex body, which will monitor, supervise, fix targets and guide the nutrition related interventions across various Ministries.

- WE-Hub for women in Telangana
The Telangana Government announced a move to set up an exclusive innovation hub on the lines of T-Hub for women called WE-Hub, backing it with an exclusive Rs. 15-crore fund.
NITI Aayog announced it will back the proposed WE-Hub with funds under the Atal Innovation Mission.

- Indo-UK Army Exercise – Ajeya Warrior 2017
Exercise Ajeya Warrior-2017’, a 14-day training exercise of the Indian and British armies, kicked off at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges near the Sriganganagar-Bikaner highway.
The training contingent comprises one company (about 120 personnel) each from the 20th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles and the 1st Battalion of the Royal Anglian Regiment.
The first exercise was conducted at Belgaum (Karnataka) in 2013. An Indian Army contingent had visited the UK in 2015 for the second exercise.
- India wins 3 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze at Asian Archery C’ship
The tremendous performance by the Indian archers helped them grab three gold, four silver and two bronze medals at the Asian Championships in Dhaka.
15-year-old Haryana girl Himani Kumari defeated her Mongolian opponent Bayasgalan Badamjuani 7-1 in the recurve cadet bronze play-off to bag the quota.
India also bagged two gold medals in the non-Olympic compound discipline.
- India’s Shiva Keshavan wins gold at Asian Luge Championships
India’s veteran Winter Olympian Shiva Keshavan won a gold medal at the Asian Luge Championships at Altenberg, Germany. The sole Indian participant and defending Asian champion retained his title with a time of 55.60 seconds.
Keshavan will represent India at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games at Alpensia Sliding Centre at Pyeongchang in South Korea for his record sixth Olympics.
