Myntra’s chief technology and product officer Shamik Sharma has moved into an advisory role and is expected to leave the Flipkart-owned online fashion store after a four-year stint.
- Myntra has confirmed this development to the publication and said “Shamik Sharma has moved on to an advisory role. In his previous role as the company’s chief technology & product officer, he led several breakthrough technological innovations. Shamik will continue as technology adviser and play a key role in Myntra’s product and technology growth.”
- It also noted that engineering SVP Ajit Narayanan has now been appointed as the new Myntra CTO.
- Myntra had acquired rival Jabong for $70 million in July to strengthen Flipkart group’s leadership in the online fashion segment. Flipkart is now seeking ways to differentiate the positioning of its two online fashion portals.
- Myntra is also opening its first “tech-enabled” offline store in Bengaluru later this year in a bid to expand beyond its digital reach to showcase its products and reach out to consumers through these physical outlets.
