- India will be home to 10,500 startups by 2020: Nasscom
India has emerged as the third largest startup base and such ventures are poised to grow 2.2 times to reach 10,500 by 2020 despite a perception that the ecosystem in the country has slowed down in the last year. India is in the third position just behind US and UK, and nearly 1,400 new start-ups are expected by end of 2016, up by 8-10 per cent from last year, revealed the “Indian Startup Ecosystem Maturing – 2016” report by Nasscom-ZINNOV.

- Rashtriya Ekta Diwas
National Unity day (also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) is celebrated every year on 31st of October by the people all through India. It is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who really unified the country. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day was introduced by the Government of India in 2014 with the aim of celebrating this event every year on 31st October. The aim of introducing this event is to pay tribute to the great man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his birth anniversary by remembering his extraordinary works for the country. He really worked hard in keeping India united.
- India, Russia agree to double the range of BrahMos Missile
India and Russia have approved the proposal to double the range of the BrahMos, world’s first supersonic cruise missile at the 16th Russia-India intergovernmental commission on military cooperation meeting. During the annual summit in Goa, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached an agreement to develop different range of the BrahMos.

- Delhi High Court completes 50 years
The Delhi high court which was established on 31 October 1966 turns 50 years. Housing a total of 36 courtrooms and dealing in both civil and criminal proceedings, the Delhi high court has witnessed some of the most challenging cases from the time of its inception. As it completes 50 glorious years of establishment today, the Delhi high court can be seen as one that has constantly striven for efficiency in disposal of cases and in the process embraced technology in its day-to-day working

- India to get electricity from offshore wind plants in 5 yrs
India will get electricity generated by wind-propelled plants installed in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu in about five years as part of the country’s green energy development programmes. A 100-megawatt pilot project will likely be installed in ocean off Gujarat in about three years, he said on the sidelines of the Singapore International Energy. It is to kick start a new power generating sector under the Facilitating Offshore Wind in Industry (FOWIND) programme funded by the European Union.

- Lewis Hamilton wins Mexican Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton kept his title hopes alive with a comfortable victory from Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg in the Mexican Grand Prix. Hamilton survived a scare at the start, when he ran wide at the first corner after locking a front tyre. In the championship, the result changes little, and Rosberg can win the title by finishing second to Hamilton at the last two races of the season.

Gareth Bale extends Real Madrid contract until 2022
Gareth Bale has signed a new Real Madrid contract that is worth £18 million a year and will keep him tied to the club until 2022. The Welshman’s contract takes him to June 2022 when he will be 33 and makes him football’s third-highest paid player behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

- India defeat Pakistan to win Asian Champions Trophy
India prevailed 3-2 over Pakistan to reclaim the Asian Champions Trophy hockey title. Goals from Rupinder Pal Singh (18th minute), Yousuf Affan (23rd) and Nikkin Thimmaiah (51st) helped India surmount the challenge from Pakistan, which rallied from two goals behind through strikes by Muhammad Aleem Bilal (26th) and Ali Shan (38th) in the title clash of the fourth edition of the tournament.
