The Sufi Conference is expected to come out with a declaration against extremism and Wahabism in the last day of the event to be convened in the Ramlila Maidan.
What is Sufism?
- Sufism is defined as the inner mystical dimension of Islam.
- Sufis regard Prophet Muhammad as their leader and prime spiritual guide.
- Classical Sufi scholars have defined Sufism as “a science whose objective is the reparation of the heart and turning it away from all else but God”
- Muslims and mainstream scholars of Islam define Sufism as simply the name for the inner or esoteric dimension of Islam which is supported and complemented by outward or exoteric practices of Islam, such as Islamic law.
