Obama names Indian-American Yale professor Akhil Amar to key admin post

US President Barack Obama has named Indian-American Akhil Amar as a member of the prestigious National Council on Humanities. Amar is a Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University since 2008. He had worked as Professor in various Universities. Amar received a B.A. from Yale College and a J.D. from Yale Law School. He was co-editor of ‘Processes of Constitutional Decision-making’, constitutional law casebook. He also authored several books on constitutional law.

In 2000, he was named a Senior Scholar by the National Constitution Center and in 2007, he was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
