Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated National Conference of Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes entrepreneurs in the national capital. The conference is being organised by the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI), on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of father of the Indian constitution Dr B R Ambedkar. The programme, which is being conducted to seek the support from the Centre in promoting entrepreneurship among Dalits, is being attended by more than 1200 Dalit entrepreneurs. Prime Minister Modi has initiated several measures to boost entrepreneurship among youth, and especially among Dalits.
BR Ambedkar
- The First Round Table Conference was convened in London on November 12, 1930 and B.R. Ambedkar and Rao Bahadur Srinivasan represented the Depressed Classes.
- He was the first minister of Law and Justice and stayed in office from August 29, 1947 to January 24, 1950
- Ambedkar formed the Independent Labour Party (ILP) in August, 1936, which participated in the provincial elections of Bombay and won 13 seats out of 15 seats reserved for scheduled castes.
- Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is known as the ‘Father of Indian Constitution’ as he was the chief architect of the Constitution of India.
- He wrote an autobiography called, ‘Waiting for a Visa’, which was written between 1935 to 1936
- Dr. B.R. Ambedkar died in the year 1950. After 40 years of his death, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna Award, which is the highest civilian award in India.
