Tommy Hilfiger Model Sam Sarpong dies at 40

British-American actor-model Sam Sarpong has died of an apparent suicide, was 40. Sarpong, who was a model for Tommy Hilfiger and the face of the brand for several years on October 27, died after jumping off a bridge in Pasadena, California. Sarpong was a co-host on MTVs “Yo Momma” alongside Wilmer Valderrama.

The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known.

The Pasadena Police Department, a witness called law enforcement on October 26 morning, after seeing a man standing outside of the bridge railing, Officers and firefighters communicated with him for hours, but he ultimately jumped to his death.

  • Sarpong began his career as an editorial model, working for brands like Louis Vuitton and walking in shows for Versace, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. He was also the face of Tommy Hilfiger for over six seasons.
  • In addition to his hosting gig alongside Wilmer Valderamma for MTV, Sarpong also had guest roles in several TV shows as well as a few minor film roles, including a part in 2003’s Love Don’t Cost A Thing.
  • Sarpong recently finished filming American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, which premieres next year.
  • Sarpong is survived by his sister June Sarpong and his father Samuel Sarpong Sr.
