  1. Iranian’s Debut Wins best film award at KIFF

Iranian midwife-turned-film-maker Nahid Hasanzadeh‘s “Another Time” went on to win the Best Film by a Woman Director with a cash prize of Rs 51 lakh at the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival. Nahid was born in Mianeh in 1974. She qualified as a midwife from Tehran University in 1998 and went on to study film making at Tehran’s Iranian Young Cinema Society.

  1. Tata consultancy serives and vedanta Wins ACES Award

Two leading Indian companies have been awarded for their leadership in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, eco consciousness and community care at the third annual Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability Awards (ACES). TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) was named Industry Champions in the Leadership category. India’s Vedanta Limited was named “Top Companies to Work for in Asia.”

  1. Rishi Jaitly named CEO of Times Global Partners

Times Internet, the digital arm of The Times of India group, appointed former Twitter Inc.’s India head Rishi Jaitly as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Times Global Partners, a group initiative that supports the launch and expansion of emerging global digital companies in India. Jaitly will replace Puneet Singhvi who was heading Times Global Partners till now as chief operating officer.

  1. Amul to set up centralised milk processing unit in Bengal

Jairambati (WB) Amul, a brand owned by Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union in Gujarat, will set up its seventh centralised milk processing plant at Sankrail Food Park in Howrah.  The food park around 17 acres from West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation to set up our centralised milk processing plant in the country.

  1. PM Modi to address inaugural session of Rail VikasShivir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the inaugural session of the Rail Vikas Shivir at Surajkund near New Delhi. The Indian Railways is organizing the three-day Shivir from 18 November 2016. The aim of the Shivir is to generate numerous innovative ideas across most critical areas of the railway operations for substantial progress of this sector.

  1. National Student Startup Policy launched by President

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee launched the National Student Startup Policy on the opening day of the second Visitor’s Conference on November 16, 2016 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The National Student Startup Policy, formulated by AICTE, aims to create 100,000 technology based student start-ups and a million employment opportunities within the next 10 years.

  1. Har Ghar Bijli Lagatar Scheme launched by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched a new Scheme named as – “Har Ghar Bijli Yojana”. This schemelaunched by Nitish Kumar is a part of Seven Nischya Scheme in Bihar. Nitish Kumar launched this scheme During a program in Bihar. Under this scheme in Current Financial year Electricity Connections will be provided to 20 million homes.

  1. Mastercard Launches Masterpass QR Payment Solutions

Global payments & technology company MasterCard has introduced Masterpass QR, a safe and secure ‘quick response’ (QR) mobile payments solution in India. Masterpass QR is a digital wallet service, which allows mobile banking users to safely pay for face-to-face purchases using their smartphones. To make purchases, users can scan a QR code displayed on the merchant’s device using a mobile app, without cash or cards.

  1. RBI Allows Foreign Investors to Buy Securitised Debt

The Reserve Bank of India(RBI) has allowed foreign investors to buy securitised debt, which refers to securities such as mortgages structured by issuers, as part of efforts to attract more flows into debt markets. The securitised debt can include any securities issued by special purpose vehicles in which banks or certain financial firms are the originators.

  1. November 19: World Toilet Day

World Toilet Day is celebrated every year on November 19, and this year’s main focus will be toilets and jobs. It will focus on how life and work environments get affected by sanitation. Popular British band Coldplay along with artists like Jay Z, Demi Lovato and Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and many more will promote World Toilet Day at Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai.

The theme in 2016: Toilets and jobs. This year’s theme focuses on how sanitation, or the lack of it, can impact on livelihoods.

  1. Sunway Taihulight named World’s fastest Super Computer

A new Chinese computer system that can make 93 quadrillions calculations per second was named the world’s most powerful supercomputer. The supercomputer called Sunway-TaihuLight developed by the National Research Centre of Parallel Computer Engineering and Technology (NRCPC)is built entirely using processors designed and made in China.

  1. Airtel Announces merger with Axiata in Bangladesh

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has announced completion of the mergerof its subsidiary Bangladesh telecomunit with Robi Axiata Limited.  Bharti Airtel said it has completed “merger of its subsidiary Airtel Bangladesh Limited with Robi Axiata Limited (RobiAxiata), a unit of Axiata Group Berhad”. The merger was completed following the fulfilment of the condition precedents to the agreement and filing of the merger order with theRegistrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms of Bangladesh Court.

  1. S.P. Chawrasia clinches the 2016 Resorts World Manila Masters

Indian golfer S. S. P. Chawrasia lifted his second Asian Tour title of the season, clinching the Resorts World Manila Masters 2016 by winning a three-way playoff on the finalday. The 38-year-old, who won the Hero Indian Open in March, carded afinal round of six-under 66 to accumulate a four-day total of 19-under 269.

OBITUARY

  1. Former J&K Governor Lt Gen S K Sinha passes away

Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen S K Sinha passed away at a hospital this morning after brief illness at the age of 92. He was first admitted to the base hospital here on November 1 with a fracture in his femur bone and ribs and was later shifted to the R and R hospital after some complications developed.
