1995 Pablo Picasso sells for $ 179 Million

A Pablo Picasso masterpiece freezes under the hammer for a world record auction price on 11th May 2015 for $179.4 million (£116m) resulting to be one of the most expensive auction. The action took place in Christie’s Rockefeller Centre auction room in midtown Manhattan when the biderss voluntrily shouted their bids for the artwork.

 Mr Pylkkanen  described the sale as “one of the greatest nights in auction history”. The most expensive artwork sold at auction had been Francis Bacon’s “Three Studies of Lucian Freud,” which Christie’s sold for $142.4 million in 2013.
