Concerns Need to Be Raised Regarding the Air Pollution in Northern India
A number of cities in Northern India have been experiencing “very poor” air quality for the past few weeks, which indicates that the region is struggling with the issue of air pollution.
Cities such as Begusarai, Bahadurgarh, and Dholpur have recorded air quality index (AQI) levels that are higher than 370, indicating that the pollution situation has been particularly severe in the states of Bihar, Rajasthan, and Haryana.

As of recently, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has made available information regarding the air quality in 242 cities located around India. No city was found to have “severe” air quality, as indicated by the statistics.
However, eleven cities, including Delhi, Angul, Faridabad, Bikaner, Bhiwadi, Byrnihat, Arrah, Sonipat, Noida, Dharuhera, and Rohtak, were found to have “very poor” air quality.
Vehicle emissions, industrial emissions, and agricultural burning are the chief contributors to the air pollution that is prevalent in Northern India. Other contributors include industrial emissions and agricultural burning.
Particulate matter (PM), which is a significant threat to human health, is formed as a result of these causes due to their contribution.
